Ah, thanks for the further feedback. It's just the tower will be a i7 930 chip and the case will have a Radeon HD5850 so running it passively won't be an option. It'll be as quietly active cooling as I can make it with PWM mid-CFM Scythe fans. The tower will also be in a corner so there won't be muc...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to clarify: http://i39.tinypic.com/s3n6h2.jpg A is the fan at the rear of the case sucking air out the back. B is where a fan would normally bad blowing air in from the front. To the bottom right corner is an intake fan near the bottom-right of the case. However, B ...

hmm without an intake fan out front to suck in cold air to pass through fins to go through heatpipes to cool the cpu, this would kinda be crappy right?

CPU cooling pull fan only?

Using a Scythe Mugen 2vB Looks like the shop assembling my new PC build says that they can't put a push fan on one side (I wanted to put 2 but the clips don't fit this heatsink) since it is right up against RAM slots with overly-high heatsinks. Is there any harm wrt to airflow to having only the pul...

ECS 9800GT ecos with Arctic Cooling L2 fans

Hey kids,

Been a while since I've been obsessed with silent cooling. Anyone have an opinion on how well these coolers work? Looks like AC has had more uptake with the OEMs lately:

It's a pity you're in France--shipping that thing over the ocean to North America is expensive and risky.

I hope you can sell it to a euro SPCR member.

The PSU's fan that sucks air up from the inside of the case and blows it outside is almost directly above the Shuriken. It was competing for air. I bettered my temps by 5 degrees by flipping it. Other owners of this case use a big NT06 WITHOUT the fan and have it 1-5mm away from the bottom of the PS...

It could be that the enclosure is what was preventing my PC from sleeping since even when it briefly suspended for a second (and then the video card fan went full blast waking up again 1-2 seconds later) the enclosure lights did not change at all. I tried to get rid of all non essential usb devices ...

The WD Caviar Black isn't quite inaudible but its seeks and accesses are much more muted compared to the bum Green I had. Reversing the fan on the Shuriken lowered temps by around 5C so it's 34-39-41-44 idle with the fan set to only 1200rpm, down 1000rpm from full blast. If I set the other 3 case fa...

Thanks guys. Reversing the fan on the Shuriken lowered temps by around 5C so it's 34-39-41-44 idle with the fan set to only 1200rpm, down 1000rpm from full blast. If I set the other 3 case fans to 1100 rpm and the GTX to 25% with RivaTuner, things are much more pleasant. GTX idles at 55C-60C instead...

you can still use it if you buy a $20-40 esata card. i just don't know how it will handle your low-power/sleep needs. it will sync with power on/off though.

your mobo won't support multi-drive esata port multiplication. you need to buy a Silicon Image Sil 3132 chipset based controller card (in either pci or 1x pcie) . as for waking from sleep, i'm not sure how much help that will be since the power sync is for complete on/off cycle and you'd need to phy...

It only works with eSATA. I haven't set mine to sync though, it's just on all the time. I really should though to coordinate it with PC shutdown in event of power failure and the UPS kicks in. Be sure to confirm your southbridge/eSATA supports port multiplication.
