They even have the wedges on the floor so you walk on a suspended grid that's like a trampoline and entire room is decoupled from the rest of the building.

A Scythe Kama Bay seems to work well if you need the extra airflow. The fan itself probably isn't necessary, it's the extra intake area that does the trick. Aha, so someone even made a commercial product for this. Interesting. I also see in those photos that the Ninja was ducted to the outside. I'v...

Front intake in P182 5.25" bays
Has anyone ever put a 120mm fan in the 5.25" bays of a P182. I've noticed that I have lots of room under my DVD burner to fit the 120mm Yate Loon I'm currently using as a front intake fan in the place where the top HDD cage usually goes (the one with the dust filter). If I take out all the slot cove...

second harddrive - WD or Seagate
I already have a 320GB SATA Western Digital AAKS drive that has XP on it but I'd like to put Vista on it and get another drive for dual booting into XP. I like the Western Digital, it doesn't whine at all and it's the high pitched sounds that annoy me. I have 2 IDE seagates but I've never owned an S...

I'm glad to see your settings posted here. I have an E6700 and a 640MB 8800GTS too. My core temps run at around 40-41 too. They will get to around 70 when pushed with Orthos but they don't seem to get that hot while running games. I haven't tested it out too much yet. The stock 3D clock speeds for a...

[quote="WR304"]Whilst I had the case apart I took a better picture of the GF8800GTS fan duct. :) It's the "classic" GF8800 duct carefully made from cardboard and electrical tape. quote] I've noticed that the hottest thing in my case is the 4 slits in the plastic on my 8800GTS so I'm guessing ...

You seem to be confusing "intake" with "intake FAN". But you don't actually need any intake fans to have an intake. Yeah, I guess I wasn't specific enough. I DID mean intake fan because just the openings in the front of the P182 aren't quite open enough to work without the aid of a fan. I was think...

If opening the case helped so much, then the intakes are currently too restricted. This isn't surprising, since the P180 has highly restrictive intakes. Try removing the front grills and filters. Removing the CPU fan is unlikely to change temperatures at all in either direction. I haven't even trie...

Should I use the CPU fan and a front intake?
I just got a Geforce 8800GTS and obviously it heats up the inside of my P182. I was just playing the Colin McRae DIRT demo and I noticed that my core temps didn't drop right away like they normally do after shutting down a game. This is a very taxing game so the cores where staying at around 41 and ...

Asus 8800GTS is nice and quit
I'm amazed at how quiet my Asus 8000GTS is. I installed it today and I don't think I can hear it over my 2 120mm Antec fans set to low and 1 Scythe 120mm fan in my P182.

First of all, make sure that it is the core temperatures that you are measuring. These are reported by TAT, the latest SpeedFan, Everest Ultimate, and RMClock (and probably others). But not by Probe II, which reports a sensor on the motherboard near the CPU. Yup, I've noticed that ProbeII is pretty...

How hot should an E6700 get Idle/Full
I put together a new system last night with an Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi/E6700/Arctic Silver/Ninja Rev. B in a P182. With the top and rear Antec fans running at LOW (they're too loud otherwise) and the useless bottom fan removed PLUS the Scythe fan that came with the hestsink spinning at around 1110RPM, ...

I just did a little experiment. I touched the tiniest amount of silvo to the edge of the base where the heatspreader doesn't even touch and the colour got lighter, then I washed it off with 99% isopropyl just in case that stuff eats copper over time ;) The discolouration is much worse along the edge...

Re: Hey, it IS a film!
...I guess I'm going to have to use something that can disolve the stickyness? Is there actually glue left behind? If it's just tarnish then don't worry about it, it's not going to affect heat transfer as long as the surface is still flat. HA! I was editing my previous panicky post at the same time...

hmm, it could be a film, how would I clean it
Might be just the angle.. but i would swear that looks like the base is covered in ... glue or something .. ? It doesn't look like bare metal to me. Hmmm... I just looked at it again in sunlight (I only looked at it at night) and it might be a film. It also looks like just different coloured metal ...

Try cleaning it off. Grab some q-tips and some isopryl alcohol (99% is prefered). This may help. You should always use isopryl to clean the surfaces of the heatsink base and the top of the processor before applying AS5 for best results. Derek I tried 99% isopropyl alcohol and nothing happened. It l...

Scythe Ninja protective sticker caused wierd imprint
My new Scythe Ninja came with a clear blue plastic protective sticker over the copper plate and now that I took it off I can see an "image" of it plus a few spots that look less tarnished on it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/dentaku_web/newsystem/IMG_9329.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albu...

value ram VS. fancy ram? is it worth it?
I'm in the process of building a new system (if the Antec P182 I ordered from NCIX ever becomes available) and I'm at the point where I'm wondering about plain ram vs. fancy ram. I'm not going to overclock my E6700/Asus P5B Deluxe and create more heat so I just want a pair of 1GB PC5300 DDR2-667MHz ...

Just the aluminium by itself is great.
I wonder if it's quiet with all those little fans in it? My guess is that it's not.

Hello, It sounds like an experiment is called for. Any volunteers? I wish I could try it myself but I've taken so long choosing parts for my new computer that I haven't built it yet :) A little bit of wire attached to the top "blowhole" fan of a P182 should do the job. I've heard that Intel is drop...

a simple bit of string to help Ninja Rev. B?
I remember somebody writing that if they pushed on their Scythe Ninja mounted with the plastic pushpins the temperature would go down. This obviously made it seem like the weight of the cooler was basically "levering" it away from the top part of the CPU. SO: I was wondering? Has anyone ever tried s...

P182 in Canada?
While it's nice that Antec is shipping out P182s in P180 boxes, it's not something I want to gamble with so I'm asking if anyone here knows the cheapest place to buy one in Canada where they know FOR SURE that they have P182s in stock. NCIX seems to be taking pre-orders for it now: http://www.ncix.c...
