I tryed with ballpoint pen springs but they aren't strong enough...
Do you have any ideia where I might get small and strong springs? (like the ones used on swiftech heatsinks)

Can I cool a 9800pro using the original HS and a slow fan?

How to silent this old computer?
It'll be used as a router, it has:
-2Gb seagate ST32122A (think its 4000rpm)
-300MHz celeron (no L2)
-250 PSU
-64Mb pc100 ram
I might be able to underclock the cpu to 120MHz (if the cpu is locked)
mobo doesn't allow voltage changing

Mobile barton bliss!
I'm trying to silence my brother's gaming rig: 9800pro, WD 7200rpm hdd, and a mobile barton. I was just playing with this Cpu voltages, and I can tell you, for silent computers that need some computer power it rocks! I got the following results: 1400MHz with 1.1volt (23W) 1833MHz with 1.3 volt (42W)...

Doing some comparisons against the 1750@14W and some mobile Bartons, it seems that it would OC like a bat out of hell, and still be passively cooled. Why not undervolt and underclock a barton to 1.1volt and 1GHz... it can be passivelly cooled too, only 15W max I think... AMD have introduced ...

SpeedFan speed at startup
Is there any way to change the speed of the fans when Speedfan loads? The program always sets the fans to 100% speed at startup and that's really anoying, I have to wait for it to reach 20% or set it maually

P2 233MHz cooling
I bought an old mobo and cpu to use has a gateway, the cpu is a p2 233MHz but the damn thing heats up a lot as it works with 2.7volt :( the hs was the intel boxed one and is loud has hell. So I wanted to cool it down without much efort, I just removed the 40mm fan and replaced it with a 800rp...

I want to duct my cpu HS, I can do this in two ways. duct cold air from the outside directly to the cpu or I can duct the hot air coming out of the HS to the exterior. what whoud work better?

How well does your slk947u work? (slk900 too)
please post your system and temperatures. I'm thinking about getting one, my system is hard too keep quiet: 2200MHz barton at 1.65volt I'm currently using speedfan so when idle it's quiet (1000rpm), but when I watch a dvd movie it's enough to kick the fan to about 2000rpm. I'm using the barton 2500+...

That would be worst than just slapping the heatsink on the cpu... You'll have cpu heat transfered to the second waterblock, and this 2nd waterblock is cooled by the pelt and the pelt cooled by the heatsink right? This heatsink will be dissipating CPU heat + water pump heat + pelt self heat... you ca...
