PatrickBateman and Copper, thanx for your input!

I might have a second thought about the Celeron then. But the P4 is a bit more expensive :/

Passive cooled Geforce4 TI4200 in Aopen AX Cube?

Hello! I'm planning to buy a Aopen Cube EZ 65. But I have some questions you might help me with. I'm aiming at low cost, silence, and I want to be able to play some games like GTA, and edit some music. I'm thinking of buying an Intel Celeron 2,6 Ghz 128 KB 400MHz, is this a good choise? I also have ...

I got a zalman heatsink-cooler on my creative Geforce4 ti4200. works perfect.
it's kind of hard to install it, but once it's done, the heatsink works fine!

well, that's what I thought too, and I tried.
but it didn't work.

anyway I put the fan into the PSU yesterday. a bit expensive for a powersupply-fan, but the PSU is more quiet now. at least I got use of it.

I bought a Papst 8412NGL. very nice and quiet, BUT since it doesn't support RPM it's useless with my nexus super-panel I wanted to connect the fan to. too sad. =/

a slotfan won't silence the card..
just make more noise.

to silent your card without voiding the warranty could be hard.
but try a zalman heatpipe VGA-cooler.
but that would of course void the warranty.

Boomerang Rapido, I got a Papst-fan 80x80cm rated 12 db. and it's very quiet. :D

"For example.. with my case I got 4 case fans that were rated at 21db. "

the more fans, the more noise.
all the fans together doesn't sound like 21db, they make a lot of more noise together.

temperature showed in bios - reliable?

hello. just a short question.
I got an old Intel Celeron 800 Mhz.
Bought a new heatsink + fan, thermaltake volcano 7.

Now the bios tells me the CPU is running at 33 degrees celsius.
before I installed the new heatsink the temp was about 44 degrees.

how realiable is the temperatures showed in bios?

but too late now. :D

aluminium is much easier to make holes through.
just take it easy use a hole saw, and use you dremel to make the hole to look nice.

the link Boomerang Rapido provided will help you. =)

Let's assume I go with the iStyle (anyone see a pattern forming here ). That case has the most hopelessly placed intake fan I ever saw.... but suppose I get out the old Dremel and drill a series of holes in the bottom front of the case (pointing to the floor) and stick an intake fan on there!? I'd h...

oh, that didn't sound to good. :(

I've hear a lot of the problem you're talking about..
if the fan is quiet for about 5 min. and then sounds a lot after that, the automatic sensor seems to be useless.

why don't you change back to the zalman?

Thermaltake volcano 7 or volcano 9?

I got a Intel celeron 800Mhz socket 370, and was thinking of buying a thermaltake volcano 7 or volcano 9. I'll probably buy a new processor in the future, to replace the old celeron with. I was thinking of 1.5 GHz or something. when I do that, I want to keep the volcano-fan. what fan should I buy? v...

I don't think a laptop-PSU will be such a good idea.
try a small PSU that's placed outside the case instead.
I thought of building a small case for my new computer, and I thougt that a small PSU would be good. But they usually don't give more than 125 w, and I don't think that's enough..

got the case...

well, got my case yesterday, and i think i'm satisfied. it costed me 1200 sek (about 120 dollars).
It's a nice case, but I'll have to handle it with care (think that shiny surface is going to be scratched if i just look at it)

so, buy it. :)
