It's not, it's installed just like any other bottom fanned PSU.I just noticed that the X-650 has its exhaust fan positioned on top

Congrats for the appearance! Maybe you could get your hands on that Bequiet! case which looks like a worthy opponent of FD Define. I'm curious how effective those silicone hdd rails are.

ASRock Fan Control
Since ASRock motherboards seem to have good fan control options I thought we could share our experiences with them seeing as ASUS are always talked about here, with some MSI and Gigabyte thrown in as well. My model is Z97M Pro4. It can control the following - CPU Fan 1 (4-pin) and CPU Fan 2 (3-pin) ...

Re: Mid-range near-silent PC - Help me spot any dumb mistake
Just a quick update on the AsRock Z97M-Pro4 board. BIOS and the ATuning (Fan tastic fan tuning) windows app shows possible control for -CPU Fan 1 (4-pin) and CPU Fan 2(3-pin) - same controller(percentage) for both fans -Cha Fan 1 (4pin) - untested ( I don't have a second 4 pin fan and the cpu cooler...

Re: Mid-range near-silent PC - Help me spot any dumb mistake
The Crucial MX seems to have a bug similar to what others have have before. Personally I decided not to buy it since there's no firmware fix ATM and will go for the Intel 530 just for the 5 year warranty, tho the Samsung Evo is also appealing. Whatever SSD you get I suggest updating the firmware rig...

Re: Zalman R1
The front seems like a poorly designed copy of CM Silencio 550, judging by the pics and vids I've found. Instead of putting the front fan(s) on the inside of the chassis, they're on the outside with the front bezel. So rather than standing behind the side vents, they're in-line with them so I'm stru...

Seems like some people have problems with the Crucial MX not booting. I was almost decided to buy this but I think I'll hold out unless they provide a firmware update.

Re: Is carbon based TIM better than Ceramic based?
I have an Athlon XP CPU has happily lived for 8 years at ~52C in idle(target temp in speedfan), survived an overtemp shutdown(a bit of roasted electronics smell included) and that CPU has lower tolerances than Intel's.

As Marx said, history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.

It's owned by a German company but it does have some servers in the US as well and since it doesn't seem to support encryption it's hardly NSA-proof.

Still no rubber grommets for HDD mouting and building a gaming PC might be a problem with the airflow intake restricted to only one side of the front door and the small slit on the front panel bottom.

Re: Planned Green ITX BUild
It's impossible to fit the Cooler Master Hyper 212 in that case. Maximum CPU cooler height according to the SPCR review is 76 mm and you'd probably want to subtract at least 10 mm so that the CPU fan can actually draw some air in: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1320-page4.html Also 3 HDD will ...

I find the EU Political Compass baffling. It makes even scandinavian countries look more right wing than USA. Yes, they've been eroded by neoliberalism but they're still more social democratic, aren't they?

British national identity is about celts mixing with anglo-saxon migrants, invaded by romans, danes and normans, speaking a language whose words come mostly from Norman French...and complaining about losing your identity.

The only brand I can think of is Chieftec but even their designs "only" got stuck in the 90s, not the 80s. http://www.chieftec.eu/en/chassis/itx-tower.html (the included PSUs tend to be noisy and inefficient). Beige fascias? Fujitsu Siemens did some partly beige but for their workstations and they w...

Compressed air is much more effective than a vacuum. Buy a can, open your laptop(removing the keyboard might suffice to get access to the cpu cooler) and use that.

I undervolt my old Socket A Sempron 2600+ from 1.6 to 1.525. Not much and temperatures didn't drop with more than 5C but at least I can keep my CPU fan(Arctic Fan 3) at ??-1500 rpm. I have no idea how low it gets, under 1200 Speedfan stops giving any credible figure(think 30000 rpm). Normal usage te...
