Wow, nice timing! :D Sweet, it looks like a good cooler... And yeah, hopefully luminous will be proven wrong on the 6600 GT compatability. :D Edit: Looking at the modded 9700 Pro on Thermaltake's site and a 6600 GT (XFX PCIe), they appear to have a similar layout. It looks like it may fit after all....

Actually, if you want to try isolating the fan a bit, you could make tape loops and stick some sponge in there. Hmmm, that's a thought (actually, sandwiching the sponge could work better, since it's double-sided tape). 'course, the main noise in my system is the NV Silencer 5, so it doesn't really ...

The ultimate fan mounting method!
I'm too lazy to take pictures, but... meh. Anywho, I was sticking a second fan (an Evercool aluminum - not so good :?) in my case (an SLK3700-BQE), but the screws wouldn't fit, nor would the isolators, and I wrecked the ones from the stock fan putting it in the front. I looked around the house for s...

IIRC, spray cooling was used (dunno if it still is) in a number of supercomputers (I know for a fact that Cray used it). I believe they used Fluorinert for it; I have no idea how much it costs, though.

Thermaltake passive cooler?
Has anyone here used the Thermaltake passive graphics card cooler? I've only been able to find one review, but it seems to say that the Thermaltake cooler - without a fan - performs as well as the ZM-80D with the ZM-OP1 at 12 volts. Any idea if the review is correct?

Is this the fan I'm looking for?
'ello! I'm considering getting this fan (putting in an order with Miyori). Is this the Evercool fan that everyone's been raving about? The model number seems the same, yet... different... Anywho, I also need to know if it's a 3-pin (with RPM monitoring) or Molex connector. I'd really rather get one ...

Sounds like you want IBM's USB Travel Keyboard with Ultranav . It's pretty expensive ($100), but it's got the same keyboard as on the ThinkPads (I actually prefer the thing to the SGI keyboard I'm using now), plus it's got a TrackPoint and trackpad on it. They also have a full-size (i.e. layout of a...

Hmmm... Well, I was going to go over to Micro Center later today anyway, to see if I can get some parts to run my case fan at 5 V (oh, and pick up FF XI :D). Would it be worth it to get a syringe of Arctic Silver and try that instead? Also, I was under the impression that Ceramique was a relatively ...

Temperature monitoring without the motherboard?
Is there an easy (read: really cheap) way that I can find out my CPU's temperature without modifying the cooling or use the built in sensor on my motherboard? Apparently, the sensor in my MSI K8N Neo Platinum has issues with my processor (an Athlon64 3000+, CR stepping). I'd like to monitor the temp...

I'm using a K8N Neo Platinum. I did some Googling, and it seems that the BIOS has a bug where it reports incorrect temperatures with the stepping I have. Some people are saying that the real temperatures are about 20 deg. C lower, but I'd like to find out for myself... Thanks, Jan Kivar! :) *sits an...

Hmmm... There's the air filter in the front that came with the case, but it's not very restrictive at all, so it shouldn't have much of an impact... Argh... -.- Update: An hour and lots of cable ties later... I decided to tidy up the cabling a bit, and now my idle temps are 50-55 CPU and 40-45 case....

No. But we will have the ATI Silencer 4 for all X800 boards. Available in about 6-7 weeks. The 120 mm fan is hooked directly into a Molex connector, and appears to be running at 12 volts. I thought I had the Ceramique improperly applied and the Zalman improperly seated, so I redid both of them, but it didn't help temperatures much... Edit: Also, the Samsung's temperature appears to be 47 ...

How are my temps?
I've been doing a bit of monitoring, and I was wondering if these are safe temps. I'm using an Athlon64 3000+ (CG stepping) in a Antec SLK3700-BQE with Zalman 7000A-AlCu (as well as a Samsung SP1614C). Normal: 53-62 deg. C CPU, 38-44 deg. C case Full load (Prime95): 66-70 deg. C CPU, 40-44 deg. C ca...
