My P180B sits in my desk in a hole like compartment. It produces alot of vibration. What would be the best way to get rid of the vibration?

I just got back from Fry's. I bought a new western digital 320GB SE16 Drive. The manufactured date is 12-08 and the revision on the hard drive is 00G3A0?? Which version is that? Is it the single platter or double platter? I've never heard of this revision...

Well my case sits inside my desk on a piece of wood. So maybe that would be just what I need.

Wow bad news. Maybe I was deaf last night, but today when I have the raptor outside the icepack and just sitting in my case on foam, that dam whine noise is still their. No quite as loud but still annoying enough to make me want to return the raptor darn it....

Ok, but can you mount the sqd in the 3.5 inch drive bay of the P180B? Or do the screws not work?

Mine is the HLFS. And I can tell you that high pitched whine is really annoying. It goes away if you take it out of the casing. But for now I'll use the casing until I get the no vibes on tuesday. Although I'm thinking now I should have gotten the scythe quiet hard drive....

Wow it is much much quieter without the ice pack. Is it safe to run it without that though? What about heat? And what would you put in place of the ice pack to mount it?

I tried one of the raptors last week the 150 gb one with the ice pack. And I have to say it was one of the loudest hard drives I've ever had. It wasn't quiet in any way shape or form. Yeah it was fast but it was the loudest thing in my system by far, no thanks
