Ouch, that's pretty dusty. Has it been awhile since you cleaned it or do you have pets or just a dusty room? The problem with passive GPUs is that they generally do still need airflow. And that case really leaves the GPU sitting up there with none of it. Your exhaust only fans give you the good cool...

I'm thinking along similar lines. Why not have a fan in there standing idle and ready for when ambient temps >30 degrees or you want/need more power draw? Well, if you stick a fan in there, then you have to make room for it. Which would mean cutting down on the size of the heat sinks. Which would m...

AFAIK in case of S1156 boards it depends on motherboard BIOS. If you can set lower voltage than 1.5V, then yes. If no, the no :). I have the G.Skill 1.35V memory. to get it running at a lower voltage, I just had to set the BIOS to XMP profile 1 or something. Then it ran just fine at 1.45V(*). I did...

I too picked up the Gigabyte H55. Undervolting for me did nothing at idle power but did cut some off under load. If I were buying again, I'd probably just go for the Intel and save the hassle while getting lower power.

Well, that wouldn't be possible until they got to 750GB platters which they're only just getting to 667GB I believe. So in theory 1.33TB 2-platter drives could be coming at some point. But probably not until a little while after the bigger 2TB 3-platter drives arrive which sounds like it should be s...

RMClock unfortunately hasn't been updated in a LONG time. It was an awesome tool at it's time with nice graphs and stuff. My two most recent motherboards have been gigabyte. An AMD 785G and Intel H55. With the AMD, I actually set a modest undervolt in the BIOS and then used ...

45nm was 2 years ago. Not suitable for silent PCs. Yeah, I noticed that when this topic was first posted. All AMD CPUs since the AII/PII are 45nm.
