It looks pretty promising so I may well order a couple of fans from them in the next few weeks (better still, I may be able to do it via work who have an account and so get free shipping - will check next week). If so I'm quite happy to send some on to you at cost. The only issue is that they are de...

I had found these fans earlier on Sunon's website, but I can't find anywhere to get them. None of Sunon's distributors have them in stock. But thanks for bringing them up again, I think I'll make another effort to obtain some. If it helps, I just found them in stock on the RS components website in ...

Although the Sunon is a 38mm fan it seems to be at a disadvantage because of the more open 5 blade design compared to the 7 blade Panaflo and Nexus. Sunon also seem to do a 7 blade fan (A1123/A2123 HST is the sleeve bearing variant, for 115/230V AC). Looks like it has about 25% better flow at 0.2in...

To play Devil's advocate.... I don't think I would go with a setup like this. I haven't watercooled, so you can take what I say with a grain of salt. Neither have I, so this is entirely theoretical. With watercooling, there shouldn't be that much variance in temperature, assuming that changes in am...

Had a quick look. They look to be far bigger and more complicated than what I'm planning, can't go to a low enough voltage (I want to be able to have the fan off below a certain water temperature) and look like they'll probably be quite expensive.

I'm UK rather than US, so the components (and voltages) will be slightly different. The plan is to have about 4 or 5 solid state relays shorting out a series of resistors giving me a series of different fan speeds. The control circuit isn't all that complicated, and I'm fairly happy with the logic c...

Thermally controlling AC fans

I'm toying with the idea of designing a thermal control circuit for one of the Sunon 120x120x38mm 240v AC fans. This would have what would effectively be a variable resistor in series with the fan, and the resistor value will be controlled based on the temperature returned by a thermocouple placed s...

Pro Cooling has a good review of the Storm by pHaestus. No noise rates mentioned, but good info regarding it's performance & a graph showing it as compared to a number of other blocks. Yeah, I've read it. I'm a (rather inactive right now) member over at ProCooling too. I'd suggest you see about get...

Hope that answers your question? Perfectly, thankyou very much indeed. The Storm G4 has a much lower dT than everything else, so allowing me (in theory anyway) to run the water hotter and so the fans slower. I'd just read somewhere that with some impingement blocks you could actually hear some flow...

If it really takes 1/10th of the effort of a WW, then I'd have to say he's probably got the market sewn up for years!

I wouldn't go that far - in real life it'll probably beat the RBX. At any decent flow rates it looks like only the WW and Cascade will beat it at the moment - and the cascade is no longer in production. That isn't bad performance at all.

In case anyone hasn't seen yet, the TDX testing results are out. Performance is marginally worse at the same flow rate than an RBX, but the TDX has lower resistance (so higher flow rates) and doesn't have the mounting issues of the RBX.

I'm totally theoretical as well, but this may help... Also you mention there are different sizes for different purposes. It may be useful to mention what an "average" setup needs - 1/2" ID ? 1/2"ID is about as big as tubing realistically gets. If you're after overclocking or cooling a very hot PC th...

Three legged metal cylinder. One leg is the signal input, the current flows through the other two legs. Think of it as a relay basically - if the signal input is greater (or lower, depending on type) than the critical value then current will be able to flow between the other two legs. Good grief, I ...

For the external box, are you thinking something along the lines of the Prometia boxes where the computer is to stand on the box? If so, it would be a very neat solution but filling/bleeding the system would be a pain.

The point of watercooling is that using water as the working fluid in the system allows you to use much larger fans, and so run quieter for a given heat load. I personally think it could be potentially very quiet indeed, but probably isn't yet. The pump appears to be decoupled and looks like a small...

yep, that's false. What is happening is that for a given flow rate, 3/8" tubing has a higher pressure drop across it than 1/2". The pressure drop is important as each pump will have a curve of pressure drop against flow rate. It can push a set flow against a set pressure drop. Where this curve meets...

Just one comment, if you have a two outlet CPU block (Danger-Den RBX/D-Tek White Water), you can use this as a flow splitter. Pump the flow from the pump straight into the CPU block, then connect one outlet to the GPU and the other to the NB. You can then either rejoin them using a Y fitting, or put...
