GE 100% Silicone II caulk is all the same, regardless of the packaging or stated use (tube and tile, windows, etc). It comes in small tubes in any decent hardware or discount store. I would get the clear stuff. Using some high density foam around the PSU will also help. If you start listening for P...

thanks for your feedback well i can't hear the PSU outside the case, i have to use a paper cone and put the otherside touching the PSU fan grill to confirm the sound. however it does resonating to the upper cover of the 3700BQE and the case is rather thin (compare with my previous Enermax with 1.0mm...

Anyone mod a Seasonic S12 before?

did a search but no related result i'm at this stage, the Seasonic S12-380 becomes the major source of noise. the fan has a faint clicking noise. according to the review it's a mid speed Yate Loon, and as far as i can see, it's hard mounted to the frame. i do have a nexus 120mm fan available for swa...

ok, got mine. the changes, if any, very marginal. there is still a bit of humming sound and i guess it's not from the HD. i also put some 4mm sheet under the PSU, as well as between the rear mounting plate and the the PSU. and some of the 4mm between the zalman 7700 and the nexus 120mm fan. 1 metre ...

Any thoughts on the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10? my 6B200 was much louder than a samsung 1614N, when both had aam turned off. when the dm10 was set to aam 192, it's about as loud as the 1614N with aam off, but still louder than a 1614N with aam set to 192 in a word, the dm10 is now the major source o...

Re: A64 - quiet - mild overclock - spec check

Hi All, Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 200GB 6B200MO SATA 8MB Cache - OEM -- will this be as good as the legendary samsung spinpoint? frankly, no. but Maxtor is faster, and not bad acoustic wise with AAM set to 192 however - keep an eye on the new samsung P120 series, with 125GB platters, it seems r...

The PCI-E version of that video card gets all its power from the MB, not a direct PSU power feed.

got an email from mcmaster :D

"Your order will ship via USPS airmail. Shipping charges will appear on the invoice sent with your order."

how lovely.

Sorbothane has a spec called something like OO Durometer, the lower the softer. the softest U can get on mcmaster is 40.

yeah, they have left the smart fan out on the budget board. i feel like an idiot for skimping on $30. at a cool 24 degrees, my fan won't go below 3000rpm. can you explain again why i shouldn't use a fan mate on the stock heatsink? i can't see why it's a problem ? it's right under CPU/AGP/RAM voltag...

swap the fan, U'll love it

the heatsink of zalman 7700 is a good design, just let down by the fan

even with additional purchase of a Nexus real silent 120mm fan, total cost still cheaper than Thermalright XP-120 heatsink alone.

a passive cooled 6600GT is definitely quieter than vga silencer at low. suspend HD, as well as setting AAM to 192 or lower could help a little, especially for seek noise. other than that, i can't see anything better in Ur new setup, accoustic wise. the 3000+ Winchester i got can run 9*222/223 aka 32...

Seagate quiet but slow

Samsung quiet and ok performance

DM10 is the choice, quiet (can be quieter) and fast, very very quiet at AAM 192, still fast.

we have an Enermax at Taiwan: http://www.enermax.com.tw/products_page.php?Tid=1&gon=265&Gid=18&Gid2=46 which lists EG495P-VE SFMA but no EG475P-VE SFMA that recommended by SPCR and we have a maxpoint, probably "Enermax in the states": http://www.maxpoint.com/products/pow_supp/spec_pg/425sfma/index.h...

9800 Pro on Low is fine. though High brings much lower temp, like under 50 under load.

i set mine on Low on 2D stuff, and turn to High during games.
