Re: Custom Silent Case Videos

Just skipped through the video (I'll watch it in full later) and the results are pretty impressive and he appears to know what he's doing but man, that exposed PSU is a death trap!

[edit] I forget to say... Welcome to the forums!

Re: Has anyone used "bass trap" foam blocks before?

You might be over-thinking this issue. The consensus here is that most dampening material for PC cases is not a particularly good investment (except weight loading side panels). There simply isn't enough space for this to have a significant effect and there are still loads of open paths through whi...

Has anyone used "bass trap" foam blocks before?

I'm looking to buy some foam to block 3x 5.25" bays but I don't want to waste my money by buying two precut kits and having most of the kit go to waste (I have no need for the 3.5" blocks or the left over 5.25" block). So I've been looking for some diy alternatives and I found this - https://www.stu...

Re: Will positioning fans further inside the case reduce noi

another reason to consider fan(s) in the middle is that it might be possible to use a larger fan, than in the 'normal' position. That's a good point but it'd involve spending more money than I need to, I'd have to find a way to mount it/them without encountering issues with unwanted, unfiltered air...

Re: Will positioning fans further inside the case reduce noi

To clarify exactly what I mean, let me explain why I want to mount the fans further inside the case. In the following image, I have circled the three things. 1. Plastic, tool free retention clips that hold the fan in place. 2. Guide pins that act as screws. 3. Mounting holes for radiators. http://i....

Re: Will positioning fans further inside the case reduce noi

1. Regarding positioning fans deeper within the case. Testing would show for sure but my hunch is that you'd gain no noticeable acoustic benefit at modest fan speeds. Potentially more problematic could be that moving the intake fans away from their filters you incentivise them to pull air from the ...

Will positioning fans further inside the case reduce noise?

I'm planning to migrate my current non-silence focused build to a new case (Fractal Design XL R2) and attempt to build the quietest build I can. There are a couple of things that I haven't made my mind up about though. My current rig is as follows- PSU - Corsair AX760 CPU - i5 2500k Heatsink - Corsa...

Re: Want to help Corsair build the [quietest] case ever?

Any word on whatever became of this? There was around a year between Corsair George starting the mITX thread on overclock.net and the 250D being announced. These things take time. Hey guys, George here from Corsair. Hey George. I hope you read this. I love these kind of threads, I followed the thre...

Re: Best case for silent NAS / backup server.

First of all, sorry for the slow reply. I thought I'd setup an automatic email notification but apparently not. At the end of the day, a system is only as quiet as what you put into it. If you want a system with that many hard drives to be quiet, I think your first concern should be how and where th...

Best case for silent NAS / backup server.

Hi everyone, I'm new here but I've been reading SPCR for a few years now. I've built several PC's but never one with a serious focus on acoustics, so I was hoping for some advice for my latest build. I'm building a NAS / home server with as much space for HDD's as possible. Because I'm a light sleep...
