the a10 requires a new socket so your old mb won't work, you're stuck with the phenom if you want to upgrade the cpu only. a good cooler is pretty much necessary if you want it to be quiet.

i've used an air blower pump thingy before (the ones for cameras) and they work well enough.
they're super weak, but beat trying to blow out the dust yourself, the tip also goes right into psu vents!

you want at least the a6-5400k or i3-3225 with hd4000 for emulation with dolphin or pcsx2, for older games though it won't matter.
the a6 may require overclocking for decent emulation performance.
the intel hd4000 is a bit hit and miss in terms of emulation performance.
