Well the heatsinks on the PSU arn't live, everything mounted on them are on non-conductive pads... so even if the GFX card touched them there wouldn't be a problem. WROOOOONG. Atleast all PSUs I've measured have 115 volts on the heatsink of the primary side. It's true that the fan shroud is made of...

P182 not taking huge SLI-setups is just a matter of drilling out a couple of rivets.. see the update on http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47294 I can't really tell if P182 can be modified similarily, but atleast my P180B can take just about as many cards as I ever get... Also the ...

I did read some of the first comments through, but then stuff seemed to get out of hand too badly so I just skipped straight to the end. First of all, they cost only $199, for that price you can't really expect too much from active speakers. For that price I'm comparing them to PC-speakers rather th...

Here's one case that might fit your description: http://metku.net/index.html?path=reviews/gmc-r-2-toast/index_eng It isn't too deep, it take full ATX power supplies and motherboards and shouldn't be too expensive - if you can find one from somewhere. The build quality is far from impressive though...

Problem being the lack of money. This is really a zero budget mod. I'd really love to have the money to buy atleast three GPs and a RAID controller and put them up in the secondary rig, but it simply costs too much. Also I'm heading to the army this summer so I won't be using the computers for half ...

The build quality of my Tempest made me sad. click for more info . Sure you can stuff tons of HDDs in that thing and most likely they will remain cool as well, but it IS noisy and with bad luck stuffing the HDDs in the case will be literally a pain. I don't have experiences of Stackers, but I'd say ...

Getting one of these http://images.google.fi/images?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Afi%3Aofficial&hl=fi&q=nibbling+tool&btnG=Etsi+kuvia&gbv=2 is the easiest way to cut holes to metal. ...And then they will look like DVD-players :D (see the GMC AVC-7S for starters) As far as I'm concerned I prefer my HTPC-case simple and made of aluminum. So far I've only seen one VHS-player with an aluminum front bezel and it was a studio recorder worth 5 k€ or something. Not too serious proble...

SLI imo really isn't that great since it's not terribly scalable. In other words, the cost isn't worth the benefit. You're probably better off getting a better single card instead depending on what you get. Now that you started on that, you might just as well tell us a single card that's significan...

tbh I can't come up with any reason why a rear panel fan would be preferrable in this case. Atleast I used a PSU with a side 120 mm fan in the review and it worked well. Passive PSUs may not like this case as there's no airflow whatsoever in the bottom chamber other than the PSU fan, but other than ...

The only downside that I can see on these direct touch heatpipes is the fact that one solid block of copper is so much easier to make flat than three pipes and a milled block of aluminum. ( here are some images to demonstrate the flatness of the base) Despite the possibly uneven base there's no doub...

Interesting thread :) Kinda surprising to see that computers indeed can work for years untouched... Makes sense, but I just tend to change my hardware three times during that period. I had a P3 800 MHz rig running for a year. At start I was pretty paranoid about leaving it running alone, but even af...
