Noise isn't really an issue with TV tuners, so this is probably not the right place to ask. That said, there's no such thing as a "good" analog tuner and you'll never get good quality from them. Some have better comb filters, sure, but you'll have to read up on reviews for that. They also don't real...

Actually that looks normal. Once the GPU hits 55C, the fan should slowly start ramping up. Do another furmark test and check GPU-Z to make sure it does. If it doesn't, something is wrong. You'll want to manually set the fan speed in the driver to something appropriately safe, permanently - say 35% o...

In that screenshot the GPU temperature is 47C, and the fan's running at 22% - 20% is the default for idle, so it looks like it's working to me. What you can try is to use RBE and check if the fan ramps are set correctly: http://www.techpowerup.com/rbe/ Also make sure that the TTP fans are connected ...

Since I've actually got the Twin Turbo Pro working now on my 5870, I disagree with their conclusion. Not only are the VRMs are designed to withstand high temperatures, but you realistically never get the loads that Furmark and OCCT provide. The only thing that could do that would be certain GPGPU ap...

You're right about the driver bug, and I was wrong about the clock speed - it switches between 400/1200 and 850/1200. That's normal and "correct" behavior on my card - 157/300 doesn't really work as I get screen glitches. Some googling explains why - I have a dual-monitor setup: http://forum.beyond3...

Well if you seriously need the 3 monitor output, I hope that at least one of those monitors has displayport, since otherwise you'll need to buy a $99 converter from displayport to hdmi/dvi. Driver wise I have the following problems with my 5870: 1. GPU scaling is always activated, so if I run a game...

The problem with EyeFinity is that if you're going to use it, you'll want a pretty heavy duty video card to begin with. The 5770 would be fine for say, WoW, but for anything else that would actually support it (i.e. new games), you'd want a 5850 minimum - preferably 5870. Considering the cost of 3 m...

You can't trust the fan ramp up curves at Corsair - they lie. The VX ones in particular are just completely wrong. Here's an old chart from SPCR: http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/corsair_psu/psu_noise_vs_power.gif I guesstimate that with a 5770, you could hit peak loads of around 250 W. Th...

I actually bought the Corsair based on SPCR recommended and it's not as quiet as I had hoped in terms of fan speed so I'm a bit hesitant to buy the Nexus. I guess SPCR and I have different ideas on what quiet is. I don't see any recommendations for the HX 450 anywhere on SPCR. Sure you didn't read ...

The "overkill" thing comes from people thinking they really need a powerful PSU, when they don't. While there is some truth to the more powerful ones being more efficient, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're quieter. They can have a really bad fan ramp up curve, or just a fan that makes more ...

Do not buy the VX550 - especially if you need that second PCIe connector. It has a very bad fan ramp up that starts around 200W or so, and seems to ignore ambient temperature. The VX550 is also made by CWT, while the VX450 is made by Seasonic. The CM 700W is not representative for the 600/500W versi...

I just bought this PSU yesterday, and I have a P182 case as well. I connected the PSU to the PC without actually putting it in the case. Was it hard to take out the platform so you can fit the CP-850 in the case? How did you do it? Turn case upside down. Place something to gather up dust/filings. D...

Case mod: how to fit an Antec CP850 in a P182
I figure this could either go in the Cases forum or here, but I figured this would be best since someone interested probably already has the P182. I hadn't seen anyone else post details on this, so I thought I might as well document it so others can see what's necessary. Anyway, click each picture t...

you might have to snip out some of the case metal, on the backside around where the power supply cooling air exhaust is, and maybe drill out some mounting holes for the power supply screws to go thru? There's quite many air holes in the 182 already, so I doubt I'll need to cut any metal. The mounti...

Actually I changed my order to the CP 850 :). I figure it could be fun to get it working, but from the research I did last night, it might not even be a problem. do you think i could reuse this psu APEX AL-B450E 450W ATX12V for the above build It might. It depends on whether the length of the ATX power cable to the motherboard is long enough for a P182 case. The CP850 is comparable to the HX 650 pricing wise, but the problem is it won't fit in an Antec 182, at least not without some mods. I'm not sure what those would entail, nor have I found any details on the internet, or even pictures. If you think it's worth doing, I can probably still cancel the HX...

Wattage ratings for PSUs are DC ones, not AC, so a 250W PSU is guaranteed to deliver 250W sustained. At 80% efficiency that means the AC load will be 312,5W for 250W DC. Shuttle uses the SilentX series of PSUs in all their XPCs, but the noise scales with the power - swapping to a different one won't...

Wattage wise, it's definitely a waste. If you're just using onboard GPU, you probably won't ever pull more than 200W. Even if you want to add a GPU in the future, something like a Nexus Value 430W should handle that easily. It's really only when you go dual GPU that you may want 600+ W PSUs. For noi...
