Antec SLK3000B - filter
I was just wondering whether users of the Antec SLK3000B have removed or left the dust filter on the front bezel and what people's opinions are about: a) whether the filter makes a difference in terms of dust getting in; and b) whether the filter affects air intake Like burcakb , I have placed my fr...

Re: Quiet case for cheap that's not a bloomin' Antec!?
...and the cheaper Jeantech Timeless - although no good reviews on this. Search for GMC NeoClassic - it's the same case as the Jeantech Timeless. I have one and wouldn't really recommend it. It has airflow issues: my P4 runs rather hot and that's with five 80mm fans in the case, all at max voltage....

Just like to say that I ordered an all the components to build my new system from [url=http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/]Kustom PCs with shipping to Luxembourg and got excellent service. They even took my VAT no and shipped my parts free of VAT. Shipping costs were very reasonable and I would use them aga...

If it were me, as indeed it was when I built my own SLK3000B system, I'd use a silent 120mm fan at the front and rear. Gets some airflow there but without any noise so it seems daft not to really (other than for reasons of expense). More particularly so if you're using passively-cooled components. A...

Re: Antec SLK3000-B
Nice review. I'd be keen to learn about how one goes about putting a server together, what it involves, etc. I realise that's going off topic though, so if you wouldn't mind giving me a few ins and outs, email or PM me. 2. The front of the case has a spot for another 120 mm fan; it'd be nice if one ...

Maybe using XP w/ SP1(2) slipstreamed will make it possible to avoid the 128 GB barrier problem during the setup. It does. I installed an SP2 slipstream onto a virgin 160GB disk. It saw the entire disk and I was able to create partitions and format them from the XP setup. It couldn't have been easi...

The proof most certainly is in the pudding. It adds another tool to our cooling toolbox. Just as a matter of interest, what can one do if their motherboard does not support undervolting through the BIOS. I tried CrystalCPUID on my Gigabyte GA-8ITX and there didn't seem to anything there that would a...

Re: Thor's Hammer
Or is there actually room between the case and bezel to accommodate the front fan? As burcakb says, it's close. I have to snip off the cable-tie end on the 8 0'clock corner of the fan in order to get the front bezel to close properly. Oh, and I removed the filter as I thought it would impede the ai...

I was hoping to get a mobo with a working AGP/PCI lock for the best OCing and the Abit AV8 had one. Do you know of any other boards with better layout, XP-120 compatibility, and an AGP/PCI lock? I have an Asus A8V Deluxe which has a working PCI lock. Make sure you get BIOS 1007 or above (mine is 10...

Are SLK3000B owners with AMD motherboards leaving the ducts in place despite the off-center positioning? Or are people removing the ducts and just allowing the air to come in through the vents? Or are people just completely closing up the ventilation holes for more directed airflow from the front o...

The orange Nexus 120mm fans are quiet and work well with the Winchester 64s and XP-120 combo. To attach one at the front without using the supplied plastic mount, you will most likely need to use the Bluefront cable-tie method, as the holes punched in the case line up with the plastic mount, not wit...

Yep, the arrows show the direction of the airflow. I wish they were on all sides, or at least on two sides, as I always found it to be on the last side I look!hugekebab wrote:i noticed two arrows one up one across, is this trying to tell me someth9ing

I had exactly the same problem with ZoneAlarm on my new system - what version do you have? I did a system restore in Safe Mode.
And my SATA drivers were most definitely NOT recognised during Windows setup. Could be a chipset thing?

Subjectively, how soft were those rubber rings you used for the fan mounting? The only rings I've been able to locate came from the plumbing department at the hardware store and those were far too rigid. I got mine from the plumbing section too! To be honest, I did think they were a bit on the hard...

Wow! That's one of the neatest insides I've seen. It always amazes me how neat you folks can get those PSU cables. Mine are out the way of the airflow, but still, they don't look anywhere near as neat as that. Good job! By the way, I thought the same thing about the Nexus fans and almost didn't fanm...

Great job on suspending the hard drives. I have two Samsung SATA spinpoints in my SLK3000B and they are the noisiest part of the system. I'll have a look round the hypermarket tomorrow to see what sort of elastic I can get. Then I'll attempt the same thing you did with Thor. Success! I spent all af...
