Woodsboy, Relax -- my post was intended to be a friendly reminder :D of what the EULA states -- it's far to easy to get caught up in the points part of things. Also, others lurking the thread may not realize what the EULA says on the subject. As long as you don't write a virus-like installer like a ...

I ran 4 IDE cables from a RAID card under the mobo without a problem (see here) -- I taped the cables down with packing tape in 3 spots too keep the cables flat.

I've got a P4 3.06 running 2 instances 24/7 -- ambient temps 25c to 30c. Using a Thermalright SP94 (never, ever use stock HSF anymore, crappy cooling and way too loud) w/ a Panaflo M1a-bx @ 50% to 60% (varied by speedfan), I get CPU temps pegged at 54c (on an Asus board, I'm told they read about 8c ...

...but it doesn't tell you that only the CPU/PSU headers are supported and that they are linked to the same speed. Then I should confirm that the IC7s do the CPU and NB independently. Now that I'm finally ready to order, just crossed my mind -- I assume I can pop off the active NB cooler and go pas...

They left me alone with the PC for 15 minutes and I set up FAH as a service on their P4-1.8 Any idea how well one of these performs?? I recommend the Z-680's, or since you have a THREE THOUSAND dollar price cap, you could just get a reciever and two stereo speakers and hook that up. If I had to choose between the two, I would get two BIG HONKIN Yamahas. The surround sound that you get from two of those bad boys sitting on your de...

Hotter is relative. If your HSF @ 12v gives you 35c load and slowing to 5v gives you <60c, you're hotter and you're not going to have problems. Now, if you're at 70c, then you've got problems. In general, if you're under the spec'd limits for the component, you shouldn't see a problem -- keeping in ...

I have noticed a slight resonance when the PC is in the AV rack that isn't there when it is in free air. I might have to add some egg crate foam to the inside of the AV rack.....the cycle begins. If you're ISP won't let you remote link, then why not just put the picture (jpg, 72dpi and around 600x400 is a decent size) there instead of the doc file? While I'm not going to open a word document to look at your picture (paranoid about macro viruses -- why don't you use the image tag and put it in your post), I don't think you're going to get enough exhaust with the PSU. I don't have any experience with A64's, but 70c load seems rather high. What voltage are you running the z7000alcu at? I assume you have it hooked up to the fanmate that came with it? Don't disable the 120mm fan, all it's going to do is make your PSU hotter/louder as now all of the hot air in the ca...

speedfan control of mobos -- suggestions?
I have an Asus P4t533-c that fried a few weeks back and I'm finally looking to replace it. However, I want to be able to control all of the fan headers using speedfan (the asus controlled the CPU/PSU off of a single setting and wouldn't control the chassis at all). Any firsthand suggestions? Prefer ...

Assuming you're using HT (are you?), it may depend on what's running on the other "side" of the CPU. None of the three boxes in my latest post are HT machines and they were only folding at the time (i.e., nothing else was running). The P4 3.06 in my first post is HT, was running p937 in one instanc...

P4 2.0 8:49/frame 890ppw P4 2.4 12:05/frame 650ppw P4 2.8 4:42/frame 1670ppw the P4 2.8 is pulling down typical ppw for a dgro, the P4 2.0 is a little slow (maybe 100-200ppw slow) and the P4 2.4 is ru...
