This deal has been repeated so many times I can't count how many times it's been. Anyway, the NexFan is the best deal for Canadians so far, from my experience. Not sure if they're doing the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal anymore but, I got 3 Yate Loons for $15 CND shipping included. I didn't even get charged...

Welcome to SPCR! Nice computer you got there. But you might want to try removing a few fans. For starters, I'd take out the front intake fans, or at least remove one, I'm sure you don't need 2. And take off the rear 120mm fan and duct your ninja to the back of the case. Or you could remove the fan ...

Quiet Sony VAIO [Pictures Inside] *UPDATED*

So I took the leap and bought another machine. Plan on using this probably solely for doing mostly text work for school, bills, taxes, whatever work that only uses Office lol or using Firefox to look at my lecture notes. Anyway here's what's in the computer part by part. Computer Components: 2 - Yat...

You should make some sort of duct to push the air from the Ninja to the back. It should improve you temps by quite a bit. You can use something as cheap as Cardboard from old boxes or what-not.

M2A-VM SpeedFan No Go [Help]

Speed fan doesn't seem to work. So I've decided to run my Fans at 5V using a Zalman adapter thing. But it'd be great if I could just run them through Speedfan instead. Also the fan speeds aren't detected at all in SpeedFan. Right now my CPU fan (stock cooling) is the real problem. I really wish I co...

Re: HDMI

so has anyone hooked up an HDCP monitor, or is it too soon and you are just ironing out other things? Lots of Moniters are HDCP compatible. Usually ones 20" and above are. The only way to really test out the HDCP is if someone gets a Blu-Ray Drive or HD-DVD drive in their HTPC. Isn't that what HDCP...

I did that w/ an el cheapo PSU once, had live heatsinks, shocked myself a couple of times! how are you cooling it BTW? It's basically in an upper chamber of the case closed off with a 120 Yate Loon at probably 4.x volts. Or at least will be when I get the PSU. I'll definitely take pictures wh...

Yes, capacitors can most definitely remain charged for a while. I was doing a little something inside a device (a strobe tuner, actually) that had been unplugged for a few minutes, and it shocked the BEJEEZUS out of me. It really hurt. Then, as much as that reminded me to be careful, it happened ag...

Opening A Power Supply [Safety Question]

I keep on hearing around different forums that I need to be extremely careful when opening power supplies; even when they aren't plugged in. Can someone explain to me the dangers of opening a power supply and why it's so dangerous?

You should consider taking off the rear fan and ducting the Ninja to the back. Your temps should stay the same with a whole lot less noise coming out of the rear. At least that was the case with my Ninja.

Well the biggest difference between the two that I've noticed: AMD690: Supports Shader 2.0 6150: Supports Shader 3.0 Not sure if that makes a difference for your use, watching/recording TV/movies. But it should make a difference when playing video games. Another note, I was looking into these boards...

That is a very low load setup. I would say probably less than 50W most of the time. I would think you could get away with the SS300SFD fanless. Or you could throw a Nexus on it and see if it ever spins up. That way it's also there as a backup in case you decided to use it in the dessert or somethin...

I think my overall setup should only take up maybe 100W at most. It's a MOTD, or is going to be.

N4L-VM DH
1GB Stick
Notebook Harddrive SATA
DVD-ROM
T2600 (1.6)

I'm sure this setup shouldn't take more than 100W at most on load.

You are better off just replacing the fan with a quieter one. Get a < 2000 RPM 80mm fan based on a "fluid bearing" (Scythe, Panaflo, etc.) and run it at 5 or 7V. Run it straight from the PSU like a case fan, bypassing the 2-pin connection to the fan controller. I think Seasonic heavily overspeced t...

So here's what I have planned I guess after hearing your 2 comments. 1. Remove the top cover (fan included) 2. Have it run fanless 3. Depend on a 120MM fan to cool it (Yate-Loon 500 RPM rougly 3.5V) Would you consider this at all a good idea? Or is it too dangerous to leave the cover open? o_O If no...
