Quiet Mousepads
Imagine: new mousepad, smoother and nicer than any mousepad you've ever had. Suddenly you are the number one in the COD2-list  , you die only occasionally in Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat (still the best Battlefield :P ) and in UT you hear "GODLIKE" all the time. But then there is noise b...

Depends definetly on the game.. The GeForce 8800 GTX is bottlenecked by the AMD X2-series (even FX), if compared to a Core 2 Duo-platform. Especially bottlenecking occurs in the game Supreme Commander. With thousands of units in one game, the CPU is heavily loaded by the AI. So don't say that low CP...

I'm getting the feeling that AMD (and ATI) is/are losing control over power-requirements. How the hell could the 7xx0 and the 8xx0-series be so much less power-hungry then the ATI's offerings?? I couldn't even get even get an idea why the hell you should be willing to get such a card that is only te...

I think the Tuniq Tower is comparable with the Big Typhoon, probably a bit better, but dense fins are bad with low airflow. I guess the only reason why it's better than a Scythe Mine is becaus it's bigger. The reviews found on the internet don't represent the truth. The fan is not quiet according to...

Take a good note that the hot 8800GTS/X are also warming up the case big time. For example take a look at the CPU-temperatures measured int the review "P180 Part 2: The whole nine yards". I've got an 6800GT, so I know what I'm talking about. Cool graphiccards are a big difference, butwhen you want h...

As JH Hoffma proposed; The Hitachi HD Feature Tool is very simple -(pretty save, As I recall it didn't do things to a HDD that weren't supported by the HDD)- It is indeed bootable, moreover, it's only bootable. Since I guess no one likes floppies anymore, There is also an *.iso-version, which may be...

Ok now a serious post: you won't get your PC inaudible, unless you go truly silent. but then again, there's no chance of getting a powerhouse. Face it, there is no way of getting inaudible. My PC is running very quiet, I can still hear it, but it is very easy to ignore. That's where "silencing" is a...

It is possible. As always ducting is the way. Like this: Passive coolers for CPU, GPU and maybe Northbridge with fins pointing to back-end of the case. A passive PSU like the Fortron Zen, Silverstone Nightjar, Antec Phantom. You'd get ideal with this: ----------------------- |......|.........|.........

Why would one want a positive pressure case, I don't understand. and as Felgor has posted, the P180 is definetly at it's best when used with negative pressure - which of I think is far superior to positive pressure. Only in very small (read: costum) cases positive pressure could be better through ex...

I guess. But for you who use it. If you're using an very open heatsink, like the Ninja or HR-01, the fan is actually better than anything else. I put this fan in place for a Scythe DF(S122512L) which is pretty much on par with the performance of the Nexus and it definetly blows out more air which ma...

Noctua S12-1200 Whine :S
Hi people, I've got myself a Noctua S12-1200 recently, only to find out that at certain intervals the fan makes a whining noise which is at any speed very audible :o . I guess it's a productionerror since it's much alike a bottomresonantion-frequency which has many secundairy frequencies between ~4....

Hmm I've got a new one for the Noctua 1200-version. At multiple speeds the fan makes a mid-frequency-whining that's audible like hell. The volume of the whining is lowered acording to fanspeed. I think it's something like resonation inside the motor-hub. As far as I can say there's about every mm yo...

If you want to go for quietness.. The Tuniq is probably not a good idea. It'll work, but seeing the spacing between fins I'd say that it's about as good on low-airflow as the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. You'd probably be better of with a Thermalright Ultra or Scythe Ninja. But that's when you prefer qu...
Top-down airflow good for system cooling
I partially disagree with Devon here. For you all who are thinking about the Thermaltake, the differences I have seen in my system when I was switching to the Ninja were something described by the SPCR-review. I had a Papst 4412FGL @5v on it, and ofc tested it on 7,9, and 12 v as well. I found that it's efficiency ran of very fast on lo...
