Power supply clamp... :? Filter on wrong side of fan... :? the p182(and p183?) has a power supply clamp... i suspect that companies do that to cut down on vibration. wrt the top filter: " The inside of the removable top panel is lined with thin foam, presumably to reduce the audibility of the fan. ...

photoshop and premiere pro utilize cuda, and in the case of the latter, you can get better quality with it, vs. just the cpu.

Re: Help setting up HDTV to internet through HDMI
i'm guessing that the gtx260 does not send audio thru any video port, you have to run ati 5xxx, or a newer nvidia card, and then you'd need to know if the tv can decode the audio.
you are using the second monitor for htpc? hook up the spdif port on your motherboard, to your receiver.

Re: P183 side panels hard to close?
you shouldn't have to lay the case down in order to slide on the side panels.
it sounds like the hooks aren't lined up properly with the holes.
i suspect that you'll get it figured out with a bit of practice.

i would try maxing out the p182 before throwing money at a new case... as in, put 4 fans in the upper compartment, maybe in a positive pressure setup, then see what you get with the new video card.
will you be overclocking the video card?

Re: Silent Mid Gaming PC Build Guide
that looks like a sweet build, and you have plenty of space between the video cards. my sli rig also had a similar temp differential between the video cards, and i ended up going with the ft02 case, which helped a lot, but did not fully equalize the temps. you could put a 25mm fan on the top card, b...

another great gaming build by spcr! gotta like that overclocking as well.
nice job... i would have gone nvidia, just because of the better drivers, but i'm thinking that it would have generated more heat and more noise, with a bigger power draw.

Re: FT02 vs P183 which is quieter?
I'm also considering either a FT02 or a P-183. My situation is I'd like to transfer my current uATX board into one of these two cases. I was wondering if a fanless video card (like the Zotac 430) on a uATX board in the FT02 would be too far away from the bottom fans for proper cooling? Or should it...

The case is black and is sitting under my desk, so I don't have much time to fret over it. But a bulge is definitely there. the silver arrow/p183 fit together fine for me, NO CASE BULGE, all i had to do was dremel out a couple of small holes on the inside of the black plastic on the side panel, NO ...

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)
With the mega heatsink that I have, closing the side panel is a challenge. There are dents in the panel, and it bulges somewhat when in place. been there done that... what you have to do is to cut a couple of small oval holes in the black plastic material that's on the side panel, to accomodate the...

the big ft-02 fans are nice, no question about it, you can't duplicate that airflow vs. noise vs. gpu temp situation with a p183.

i ran an almost identical setup, including the indigo extreme. when you first fired it up, no cooler fans on, the cpu temp should have pegged at 100 degrees, which is the thermal limit set by the cpu, you should have seen that on your temp monitoring software... it stays at 100 degrees until the com...

Re: FT02 vs P183 which is quieter?
i cut out the top fan outline that the p183 has, which the p182 didn't have... so i don't hear any vibration-induced humming from the top fan... unfortunately the p183 doesn't have the hood scoop on top, like the p182 does. i would start noise and temp testing with the factory fans, undervolted, and...

i'd like to try rivatuner, but i can't find any reason to stop using afterburner.
if i thought that rivatuner could improve my gtx460 sli setup beyond 1.1v/880/1760/2250, tho, i might give it a shot.

Re: FT02 vs P183 which is quieter?
i do a lot of video editing, i own both cases, the p183 is the way to go for this purpose... it's quieter, and it's a higher-quality build.
these low-end video cards don't have much in the way of cuda capability, i would go cheap and fanless, then replace it in a year or so.

thanks for the feedback on the fan voltages. i would say that the noise with the grills cut out is slightly less, and maybe different in nature... if you have a nice die grinder, it's worth it, but in my case, i invested over $80 for the grinder and the long flexible extension snout... i pulled out ...

the hdd cage vibration is probably a fluke with my particular case, since i haven't seen anyone else mention it(?)... i've had all of the fans turned off at one point or another, it was definitely coming from the hdd cage... it wasn't that it was audible so much as you could feel it with your hands....

it would probably be easier to just make some adapters yourself, the noctua version looks to be fairly simple:

or maybe noctua sells 'em somewhere?

i'm using one on a 120mm fan, i actually haven't tried to match it up with a 140mm fan, but that's a good point.
i would hack out the plastic frame, if it was blocking the airflow... leave just enough plastic to mount the fan.

just take the lid off, turn it on, and start unplugging fans.
you'll figure out what makes the most noise; then start undervolting it, or replacing it.
