Re: Recommend a Silent Mouse and Keyboard?
It's hard to believe people actually want the crappy rubber silicone membrane keyboards. Big difference in price, and for anyone willing to fork out that extra money, you still have to convince them of the benefits of a mech keyboard. Just have to link them to the OCN Mech Keyboard Guide . :) I can...

Re: Is carbon based TIM better than Ceramic based?
all im saying is; if your cpu/gpu are at your preferred clock speed(s) and under spec temps, with your fan(s) quiet enough to not hear over your ambient noise level, then 6 degrees less give no benefit. i see it all the time, -some one is happy with the noise of their rig at 65*C when maxed out in ...

Re: Is carbon based TIM better than Ceramic based?
simply not true. if its cooled quietly and still below spec temp, and not throttling then there is no gain in lowering temps. IMO there is a gain, in the form of increased thermal headroom for anything from overclocking, to seesawing ambient temps, to dust buildup over time and gradually increasing...

Re: Is carbon based TIM better than Ceramic based?
6 deg. C is not that serious, but if my CPU can drop 6 deg. C, it would still be a very good thing. Why? Lower CPU temps are always good surely? Whether it's worth bothering with, depends on how much effort and money it takes. :) The liquid metal kits void your CPU warranty, cost a fair bit, and ta...

Any thoughts on this? http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_silent_configs I thought I was being pretty cautious when making that page, but after seeing this thread I'm a bit doubtful... The Aerocool Black Hawk is the closest available option in Australia to the Nofan cases. I'd otherwise...

http://www.tomshardware.de/amd-radeon-r9-270x-roundup-test,testberichte-241406-6.html I like those videos, same as they've done in their other GPU roundups. The ambient noise may be high, but it does give you an idea of what they sound like, which I like to know before buying. Any coil whine/chuggin...

Re: Upgrade from an Antec P180 to a P183 for cable routing?
Yes, P18x series is a beast. Like others I have cut several holes in my case for easier cable and SATA cable management. Requires tools and a little spare time, but it's easily doable. A year ago I bought P280 because I wanted USB3.0 headers on the front and dual 120mm top exhaust vent, and I was r...

Re: Upgrade from an Antec P180 to a P183 for cable routing?
I'd just cut some cable management holes in the P180, and cover the edges with edge molding / u-channel.

Another option might be the Seasonic 350W TFX: http://www.silentpcreview.com/Seasonic_SS-350TGM_Gold_TFX Get your measuring tape out, see what will fit and what mods you need to do. You're probably better off getting a new case and PSU though. Something like the older Silverstone SG05 w/ 300W PSU (s...

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/5632/rfj8.png Looks like the pushpin on the Haswell board is slightly further from the CPU socket, but most likely still close enough to foul the very edge of the Shuriken 2 Rev.B's backplate. Just something to keep in mind. At least the mod is an easy one, just dri...

Hmm, I *might* get one to put in my Silverstone SG07, to replace the HR-02 that's currently in there . 8) Not as tall, so no more heatpipes sticking out the top vent! Might have to cut part of the horizontal support bar to accommodate the HR-22's extra width. EDIT: Wait nevermind... There's on...

Re: New quiet ITX build advice
Note the issue with the chipset heatsink's pushpin, and the Shuriken's backplate. You'll need to drill a hole in the backplate to allow that pushpin to poke through.Abula wrote:Cooler for Asus p8z77-I deluxe - Page 2 - Post 70 by DaddyBoy (lots of pictures here)

Re: This forum is so quiet and dead
I agree with the comments. It is almost brainless to make a silent pc now compared to 10 years ago. Building silent pc's with forward looking specs is rly a passion of mine. Agreed. It can still be a nice challenge building a silent, powerful and well cooled PC that is quiet at both idle and load ....

Re: 2x Nexus D12SL-12 for a Performance M-ATX build GTX 780
I think that would be quite sufficient, yes. :) The PSU has it's own air channel, as you said. The GTX780 takes in cool air from the top Nexus fan, and exhausts it straight out the rear vent. The CPU gets fresh air from the bottom Nexus fan, and the easiest way for the warm air to exit the case is o...

Well it happens until you get down to no moving parts, with a non-buzzing TFT and non-whiny AC-adapter. But then you are somewhat limited performance-wise and need another system altogether for stuff like gaming.. *sigh* +1 There's always another noise to deal with isn't there.  Regardi...

Re: Undervolting a HD 7750
As dhanson865 said, just lower the powertune slider and try and be happy with that. Your card simply may not have a chip to support voltage control through software (keeps the manufactuer's costs down). If you lower the voltage without slowing down the card you'll have corrupted graphics or your PC ...

Re: Can server board fit in Antec P183 v3 case?
I think you'll be fine. SSI CEB is really just standard ATX size plus 23mm or 7/8" of extra width on the PCB. And there aren't any chunks of metal in the P183 stopping you from installing it. Removing the middle drive cage shouldn't be necessary , but you'll probably want to remove it for easier cab...

Is this a problem with this monitor.? I will be using this screen an enormous amount, and as such I could not use it if the backlight flicker could be an issue. Not as far as I can tell. Another name for it is U-Channel. Comes in various thicknesses. The thicker sizes will give a nice solid look and feel, while the thinner sizes will grip the edge better -- but also not have as much to grip with -- and of course be better suited to smaller holes. Get a few metres of each size IMO, s...
