From what I've read in seems that playing vidoes does not require alot of cache, which makes the E1200 with its 1.6GHz clock fine for the job, right?

E1200/1400 Enough for HD playback?

I'm thinking of building a HTPC for my father and I was wondering if a E1200/1400 is enough for watching HD material. I don't have much cash and this CPU is very cheap so I was hoping for it to be enough. I'm pairing it up with an Intel DG45FC motherboard, which seems to do the job after what I read...

The thing was that I didn't even have a partition on the new drive and I couldn't create one in windows. However, I was able to create a partition using my Windows XP installer CD so now it has all worked out. I've just finished transfering all the data to the new drive, I ended up using Acronis Mig...

While installing the drive a new problem appeared even before it was time to worry about transfering my system. It appears that my disc is not found in my Disk Managment, which makes it hard for me to format. When I first entered the Disk Manager the Initializing Disk Wizard popped up, but i foolish...

Transfering a windows-installation to a new drive

My new WD10EADS arrived today, I bought it to replace my old hard drives, and to save me lot of time and work, I wonder if it is possible to transfer my current windows-installation to the new hard drive, otherwise I have to install a completely new windows.

Thanks in advance

Well most cases are designed with the exhausts at the back top becasue hot air rises, however, I don't really think there will be any issue.

If you want a smaller case that still takes an ATX board and has a clean look, maybe you should look into getting the Lian Li A05B, unless you've already ordered the case.

If you would buy a new PSU a Modu82+ would be a good one, unfortunately I havn't seen them avalible in Sweden, however the Pro82+ is avalible, which I'm guessing is the same PSU but not modular (am I right?).

A PicoPSU will probably do. For connecting the drives, either make a Molex > 4xSATA by yourself using old wires or powersupplies. If you don't want to do that you can just use one Molex>2xMolex and connecting a Molex>2xSATA into each of the Molex-connectors.

Any video card with a DVI port can use a DVI->HDMI converter to output video to HDMI If you meant "Are there any AGP cards that can do HDMI with sound" There are none that I know of. I did mean if there are any AGP cards that can do HDMI with sound, but if there are none I'll just have to do withou...

Okey, thanks.

Are there any AGP cards with HDMI? It would be great so that I can run sound a video on the same cable.

Running a HTPC on a P4

I have an old P4 computer lying around, it is a P4 2.0GHz, not sure on what core it is, with 512MB RDRAM. Is it possible to use this as a HTPC if I buy a decent AGP graphics-card for it? I'm not going to play HD material, mostly DVD-quality and/or XviD. If possible, what is a good enough AGP graphic...

Okay.
One more question, maybe not relevant to this particular build, but what do you use to stick that heatsink to your harddrive? I have some heatsink lying around so I'm thinking of doing the same.

OT: Very clean build. Love it.

Do you have any exhausts except the Nexus in the back? I'm talking passive exhausts, that let out air as the pressure rises in the case, since I can see that you don't have more exhaust-fans than that Nexus.

For passive cooling, either the HR-01 Plus or the Ninja Mini is the way to go for a HTPC (I don't know if the HR-01 Plus fits in the case thats why I listed the Ninja Mini). As for a 2.5" HDD, I'm not sure. If your going to dedicate a HDD to the OS, I suppose you will be wanting a 7200rpm HDD, to ga...

If you change your card to a 4870, get another motherboard and some DDR2 RAM, you'll probably afford to go dual monitor right away.

I'd recommend Xigmatek HDT-S1283 for your CPU, and for your graphics card an Artic Cooling Accelero cooler. Then downvolt the fans to 5-7V. With this you should be OK. If not, you should consider changing the PSU fan to a Nexus or Noctua.

WD Green 1TB, 16 or 32mb cache?

Hello. I am about to buy a new harddrive and I'm going for a WD Green 1TB drive, but I can't decide weather to go for the 16mb or 32mb cache version of it. The diffrence in price between the two drives is small so that is no issue in this matter, obviously 32mb cache will bring better performance, b...
