Fan Controller...possible motherboard problem?
has anyone had any experience with any controllers from them? A week or so ago I posted that my Akasa amber fans were making a noise and I thought they were the cause of it as my CPU fan, a coolermaster "silence" (which is far from it at 2400rpm), wasn't making the same noise when undervolted. Now I...

Re: Cooling the datacenter
I already touched on that. If you're running datacenter with hundreds of computers in the same room, yes AC costs will be high. However for a typical user with only one or two computers in the same room it hardly makes any difference. In his post AC and DC are referring to alternating current and d...

bah, I think I'm gunna give in and get an ASUS 7800GT Top Silent, I know I'll regret it otherwise! At the very least I'll notice a difference between that and the FX5600 in there now, which isn't all too loud in itself (the main reason why I swapped it with my old 960) now all I've got to do is find...

7900 GTX or X1900XT?
Hey everyone, soemtime in the near future, I'm lookin at upgrading my PC. With a new P180 case and a Phantom 500 everything is going to be a lot quieter so... Which card would people choose on silence vs. performance? And are there aftermarket coolers for either products that make them quieter (if s...

A couple of Thermaltake cases
As some of you may be aware, I'm in the process of rebuilding an old PC so it's quieter and can sit in the corner somewhere and do general server duties. I was lookin around the Thermaltake website and came across the "Matrix" or the Swing case. Has anyone had any experience with these cases? Thanks...

How much money do you want to invest in an oldish system? Passive PSUs? An Astec P180 case?? Where are your priorities? You're going to wind up with a Lamborghini chassis and coachwork (at those prices), with an old Ford Model T engine and transmission! :D haha yeah :lol:, exactly what I don't...

How quiet can I get this old-ish system?
Hi again everyone. I'm planning to reuse my most of my current servers bits I would like to re-use are the motherboard, memory and the CPU. The 20GB HDD is too noisy and the PSU is gettin a little old. The CPU is a Athlon 2000+ running at stock speed. How cool a processor is this? Do you think it co...

at £12 they're only £2 deerer than the Akasa fans I was going to get. They say they're 22.8db? I thought they were supposed to be quiet? Or are they the best when undervolted? I know the Akasa make a weird noise when undervolted. I'm presuming the 80mm fans have the same type of motor as the 80mm ...

Tri-Cool Fans in the P180
How quiet are these fans when on low and does they shift enough CFM? I've got a fan controller that will undervolt them to 6v, or is this unnessicary?
Thanks,
Dan

Dan

i just had this on an older low quality psu. turned out to be the pfc transformer. best thing to do is run it with the cover off and touch the tops of the trannies with an isolated screwdriver, you should feel the vibrations. i used some acoustifan fan mounting washers either side of the pfc mounti...

I know the NeoHE's have issues with some Asus boards, but I'd never heard of any issues with the Phantom 500. I've been using an A8N32-SLI with a rev1 Phantom 500 since last fall....I've never had any issues of any kind. BUT... it is a pain in the butt to fit a Phantom 500 in the bottom of a early ...

I'm not keen on swapping the fan on the Seasonic, thoug htaht is my second choice PSU. I think I'll get the Antec and put up with the PSU noise till I get the P180, which should keep the temperature down low enough so the fan doesn't come on. Anything will be better than this noise. So it is then. I...

  haha, it's a Hiper 450W, nasty gold plated thing. Bearing in mind the mic on the PDA that I used to record it, is a boom mic or something, as it can pick up a lecturers voice in a lecture theater. Right well I've moved it to another room, that I'm fairly sure wouldn't have the same probl...

PSU Troubles. Loud Ticking Noise
Hi everyone, ever since I've moved into my current flat at University I've had an odd noice coming from my PSU that I can't quite explain. On top of that, the noise is never present when I'm home. Could this be to do with intereferience on the line? i.e. a drinks chilling machine, washing machine or...

...Purely on cost/availability grounds I've ordered the 1400rpm Akasa Amber to start my 120 collection. Nesteq Semi-Fanless PSU review?
anyone have any idea on how long we're going to have to wait for a review? I'm split between the Antec Phantom 500W and the Nesteq 520W as I've found them for the same price. The nesteq seems to have slightly higher rail power (18A & 22A compared to the Phantoms 17A & 18A) so it'll probably be bette...

I'm sure it's got something to do with the controller unit and the way it changes the voltages. I'm not sure why the CPU fan is any different :? The noise changes pitch with the voltage (lower voltage = higher pitch). It's a weird noise that I've not heard before so it's defenitly the voltage. It se...

Today I recieved a new Aerocool CoolPanel 2 Digital Multifunction Panel with Card Reader from the linked supplyer. It seems to be a great card reader, fan control & temperature sensing unit. Brilliant, just what I wanted to hear! Thanks for the reply. I didn't want to shell out another £40 for a semi-fanless PSU if the fan came on all the time. Quick question on the case fans. How quiet are they? Or would you recomend getting some better ones? something like an AcoustiFan DustProof Qui...

Antec P180 based system suitable for a semi-fan-less PSU?
Hi everyone, I've been lookin at reviews no stop for the last week and a half deciding on the perticulars of my next system that I'm going to build in the summer.
