Zalman Fan Mate

I was looking through my stuff and realized I have 3 of these from various zalman coolers over the years. If I read the specs right it takes a fan down to 5v at the lowest setting, right? Can I use a splitter to run 2 fans off of one of these? I have a couple of 80mm silverstone fans that I want to ...

My first crack at DIY suspension. This is a laptop HDD in the drive cage of a Silverstone LC17. I used some basic bungie cords and removed the hooks but left the crimp ring attached. The ends are held together by a zip tie around those crimp rings. it is nice and tight. http://www.nuclearfuzz.com/id...

Antec Solo drive rails?

In the process of moving I seem to have lost the drive rails for the 5.25 drives on my solo. This is too nice of a case to ditch because of missing drive rails. Does anybody know a cheap source for new ones? maybe a different method of mounting the drives? I need two optical drives in there.

I have been monitoring my core temps for a while now so that I can see if the heatsink changes make any sizable difference in heat levels. thanks for the extra details.

So i Just did some more reading and I feel like such a noob. Its been a long time since i actually put thought into my computers. so, the PWM feature allows the motherboard to control the fan speed based on the bios temp readings. I am actually ok with that so I don't feel like I need the CPU fan on...

I am trying to decide how important the cpu fan control is to me. Master, I saw your link to the zalman controller but am having a harder time finding a place to buy it for a reasonable price. I was hoping to stay around $20ish. If I cant do the PWM control or CPU control for that I will use the sen...

picked up a NZXT Sentry 2 for cheap, should I keep it?

My local frys had these for $20 and a $10 rebate for a net price of $10. I want to control my 3 case fans and ideally my zalman 9500 CPU fan. is this good for that? Also wondering if I will have any problems with my projected upgrade path of the Xigmatek s1283 and Slip Stream or YL fans.

ha...well that is extremely fluctuating as I have a wife that tends to treat the thermostat like a roulette wheel and give it random spins. so what about case temps? I can find Intel specs for my CPU and I am sure I can find video card temp specs easily. should i just be happy if all my components f...

I already own the zalman so it is no expense at this point, but the xigmatek s1283 is in stock at microcenter if I choose to upgrade. I have had my eye on it ever since I read the review here. whats a good target to shoot for for ambient temps? also, where is a good place to put the temp probe to ta...

input on my VSK-2000 plan?

I have the Antec vsk2000 and just tossed in whatever fans I had when I first got it. Now I am doing some gaming again and more processor intensive media work so I am looking at optimizing the cooling and maybe a moderate OC. Here is my hardware in a nutshell Corsair 450watt PSU (120mm fan) q6600 qua...

new PC, need some fan advice.

I am building a new desktop that will also function as my media repository for my home network. I am using the Antec VSK 2000. It comes with a Tricool 120mm fan in back and a place for two 120mm intake fans in front of the hard drive cage. I am running 5 hard drives currently so would like to move a...

I will look at that. I would much rather keep the face simple. I thought about getting on of the PCI fan controllers, but I don't have any availalbe slots right now. I'll check out Speed fan.

fan controller to go with my new Antec Solo

I just picked up an Antec Solo and want to put a fan controller in one of the 5.25 bays. Most of the controllers I see in a quick glance have bright lights or colored plastic. I want a clean look to go witht he Solo's appearance. My intent is to connect the 2 92mm intake fans (these could be on the ...

looking for a couple of upgrades

I am upgrading my server and even though I do not expect it to be silent, I don't want any unneeded noise. I need at least 2, probably 3 120mm fans with decent airflow. I am sure there are some out there that can move decent air but aren't leaf blowers. I am considering the Coolermaster or Antec Tri...

PSU draw for a standard hard drive?

I have 2 file servers I am working on and need to be sure they have rock solid PSU's. Problem is I haven't found anybody running the amount of hard drives I am looking at yet. I have used several search attempts, but am just not finding it. here are the profiles fo the 2 servers... server 1: P4 2.66...
