My HD4850 at stock speeds has gone from about 1600 to about 3000 points per day since I installed it in July. Yay software engineers - Let's hope it keeps climbing.

I've just got a thin rectangle of foam inserted under the spoiler. I think some SPCRers have used presentation board stuff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foamcore).

Running fans close together in series is a problem, though it's generally fine with the fans on opposite ends of a case, I thought.

are we talking vista or xp here? We're definitely talking Vista, since Vista treats WMP as an integral part of the OS. It does take [utl=http://techie-buzz.com/technology-buzz/how-to-uninstall-windows-media-player-11.html]a little extra effort[/url] to uninstall it under XP, though. I think I read ...

I don't think this is an issue a silencing enthusiast has to worry about, but yeah, you are asking more of your motherboard when you run fans off of it's headers. Some fans draw a lot more current than a SPCR-friendly fan; for instance (and this is the most extreme example I could find) 2.45 amps (a...

The Zalman Fanmate is the way to go. Definitely better than dozens of Euros.

EIDT: It looks like they have some non-variable resistors, too:

I had a really slow (5v) Yate Loon up there, which should be approximately the same as a moderately under-volted Nexus (7v? 9?). It didn't make much (if any) difference when I experimented with stopping the fan up there. I never got around to trying the top vent as an intake, though. Right now I hav...

Is the front mesh? There seems to be some Moiré pattern going on in the pictures, so I think it is. I might be tempted to take some tin snips to the front of the actual chassis (not the mesh front panel)... Otherwise, psiu's plan sounds good.

I've heard good things about the Globalwin CS1202512L , and they're cheap. Maybe from Edward Ng on these forums? The Yate Loon D12SL-12 is cheap, easy to find these days, and is rumored to be the OEM model on which the Nexus fan is based. Scythe Slipstreams are more expensive than the Globalwins and...
