Re: Audible TFT

Oddly enough, my 17" TFT (Acer AL718) does make some noise. It's only audible late at night when everything else is turned off, and you turn the monitor on and off to spot the difference. I'd say it's at about 15kHz or so, and is extremely faint (just above the threshold for hearing @ 50cm). This i...

I'll throw in a good word for CRT. LCD's just don't produce overall text as sharp as CRT. The lighter shade black on LCD's is not equal to the quality on CRT. Gaming on CRT is definitely better than LCD's with 25ms or more. The 16 ms LCD's are improved in gaming but suffer in viewing angle. I still ...

OK, I couldn't take it any more, and I replaced the Seasonic Super Tornado 300 with a Fortron FSP350-60PN. MASSIVE improvement. The adjustability of the FSP350 makes all the difference. I keep the pot jammed all the way to the (-) side for lowest fan speeds, and it is truly quiet in a way that I co...

Well, I thought I had solved the issue, but it seems I haven't. The darned 120mm case fan that came with the sonata just doesn't start up about 9 out of 10 times that the pc is shut down/restarted. A quick spin with my finger starts it up, then it runs fine. Has to either be an issue with that fan ...

Re: ADDA Case Fan Update

The rating I have for my ADDA case fans are: 1600rpm, 20.5 cfm airflow, 15.0db, 80mm I am running all four fans at the full 12v (no fan controller). The main drawback of CFM airflow ratings are that they are rated with no obstruction to the fan (standalone). The airflow drops as soon as a fan is in...

The biggest difference I see with what you built and the C6607 is the air filter. The C6607 appears to have a pre-filter (looks like air conditioner foam) in front of another filter. If my assumption is correct, then having two filters should make this unit very effective at filtering out dust . Bu...

Applying Pre-Cut AcoustiPack to Sonata

The most difficult part is inserting the material to above the motherboard tray and covering the Antec holes. The instructions state to turn case upside down and slide the piece in place. I wonder how an SLK 800 or 900 with the Nexus Real Silent Case Fan running at 12 volts would compare. According to what I've read here, the Nexus 80mm fan is quieter than the Panaflo 80mm L1A. If it's quieter than an L1A, the chances are good that it doesn't move as much air as an L1A (regardless o...

Well here's an update - the problem has been resolved! It turns out a power connector had broken free from where it was taped, and had swung down near the rear fan. It wasn't hitting it - normally. Yes, they do tend to rattle and vibrate. As I noted in my review of the SLK3700AMB , I recommend removing those plastic brackets and drilling yourself a set of mounting holes so you can use a better method of mounting the fan(s). Even Antec's done away with that style of mount in the revised 3700BQ...
