Now according to your post, Antec states a Minimum of 20w load for this PSU. First of all, I didn't post that link. Where did you get the 20w figure? I get about 12w from the Antech specs (0.3A*5V+2*0.4A*12V+0.3A*3.3V). 12w is 3.5% of 350w. Not very close to your 45%... This factor is generally 45%...

Most ATX PSU's are designed with a minimum demand load for stability. This seems to be between 42-48 percent of designed maximum output. How did you come to the above conclusion? Where is the source for this claim? And what do you mean by stability: do you mean that the PSU starts to oscillate or d...

Unfortunately, the Polar Freezer is not available in the United States. I guess you Europeans are ahead of us this time!!! Well, let's see: you have the Seasonics, we have the Polar Freezers... so it is a tie! :D Anyway, I think the difference is quite small between those to models. And w...

A 20+4 adaptor means the extra 4 pins can be separated. It depends on the fan they use instead (I doubt they would choose a louder one - not significantly, anyway) but the capacitors aren't likely to affect efficiency that much. Maybe at higher temperatures, though. The new connector is definitely ...

New improved versions of S12-series PSUs announced!

I found this page dated 10th May: http://www.seasonic.com/new/twevent20050510.htm "Moreover, the new S12 employs an improved double ball bearing 120mm cooling fan and higher quality Japanese aluminum electrolytic capacitors for even greater reliability and stable performance." Hmm, is this just mark...

May I suggest an alternative: be quiet! Polar Freezer. It is a similar product without the heatsink outside the case. In many tests it also seems to be better than the competition, including the Schooner: http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/gehaeuse_kuehlung/2005/sieben_vga-passivkuehler_ver...

Thanks, but did MikeC mean that S12-430 will be soon shipped with one of those??? Or did he mean that most new PSUs will use that kind of a connector?

It's an ATX12v v2.x psu; it has a 24-pin connector by definition. It comes with an adapter; they will soon change to the 20+4 adjustable type. Can you clarify this, MikeC? You mean S12-430 will soon be supplied with a different kind of connector? What kind of? So no adapter meaning no additional re...

And I have many friends who are engineers (both in and out of the audio world) who also said no freakin' way could an AC cord make a difference... every one who has taken the time to LISTEN has changed his mind (yes, they are all guys, no surprise there). The funny thing is that in ABX blind test a...

No, and it's not even supposed to be:

http://www.seasonicusa.com/products.php?lineId=4

"Seasonic's Super Silencer series of power supplies is designed to conform fully to the new ATX12V rev. 1.3 PSU Guideline."

Who claimed it is ATX 2.0?

Swap from TP380S to S12-430 was one of the better upgrades on my Sonata-cased system. Exhaust air from PSU was warm, now its ~ambient. Noise level dropped "significantly" to my ears. Tried but haven't been able to induce a load scenario that causes the S12 fan to ramp up to audible range. Concurren...

Seasonic S12-430 or Antec True 380S (Sonata version)?

I now have the Antec Sonata case with the included True380S power supply unit. I have changed the video card stock cooler (Hercules 9800 Pro) to a passive system called be quiet! Polar Freezer and my CPU is now cooled with Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu. The loudest part now seems to be the PSU fan. What do yo...

Seasonic S12-430 and voltage drop with 24->20 adapter??

Does the S12-430 exhibit the same problem as S12-600 when using the included 24->20-pin adapter: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=106&type=expert&pid=1 According to this review the voltage at +3.3V rail drops quite a bit when using the adapter. I wonder how serious problem this might be in real ...
