If they can cool this thing and still have human life survive within one square kilometer of it, there's no reason why we can't get our machines dead silent. :)

What version of Windows are you using? (or other OS)..

Sounds like a good idea, I'll look for something in Windows that will do this automatically, if not, I'll start writing a script.

There is nothing wrong with 42ºC. Are you running your new fan at 12v? We buy these massive heatsinks so we can keep decent temperatures at ultra low noise levels.

With a dremel and smaller pieces of wood :D, you could easily fit this inside a case with <40degC temps... I'm glad your HDs are quiet , but that HD box is half the size of your PC case, and probably weighs just as much. Even if your HDs are stable.. their lifetime will diminish significantly at tha...

Sooty the NCU-2000 is designed to be passive :) using your cases existing airflow.
Ideally you would want to have a 120mm rear exhaust and maybe a duct over the NCU.

Are you going to let your "brand snobbery" deprive you of a decent product? Of course not. Sorry if it sounded like thats what I was implying. Just meant that it wasn't some great innovation, but I'm more than glad that someone has brought the 'ICE cooler' to the desktop. The installation comment I...

I'm more than pleased with my 9600 NonPro. If you're not looking for record breaking FPS scores, this card would be perfect. Full DirectX 9. Probably the best fanless videocard you can get (not including 'ultimate').

wjdashwood 30degC for a HD is great. Don't bother trying to beat that. If you are just trying to quiet it down, you would be better off with a smaller fan. 120mm is overkill for that. To make up for the decrease in airflow, try and find some long flat heatsinks, or get some aluminium u-channel and ...

Yeah I was going to edit and suggest the opposite as well. I just figured since the source of the hot water was at the bottom, most of the heat might have been transfered out of the fins by the time it go to the top. But returning the hot water at the top does sound like a better idea. Is there a co...

I'm not sure of how the flow of water works in this tank, but would there be a way to take the water from the top of the reserator before it goes into the computer, and put it back in the res. at the bottom of the tank? If so, what kind of gain would there be? I would think the water at the top woul...

It also seems to have some installation issues.

I had an extremely whiny Fujitsu and managed to get rid of the noise by placing it on the bottom front of my case, sitting ontop of a large piece of foam (the ones that ususally come with harddrives), with another large piece ontop, and strapped together tightly. With heatsinks attached to the side,...

That one seems fine. Just don't get a Black and Decker Wizard. I'm not sure if they make larger versions, but the one I was using was terrible for cutting something as thick as a computer case. Batteries died in 3-4 minutes.

Hopefully another brand that is known to make quieter products will release a 7200rpm model. If not, the size and heat pluses add headroom for dampening.

When I finish school I will be building one that I have been planning for a while. The reason for the PSU duct is to prevent the hot CPU air from rising up into the PSU. So placing it at the bottom of the case will also prevent this. What software are you using? You should make the background white....
