Intel 800mhz vs AMD 64 - plz don't yell at me.
I recently have been forced to replace my Intel P4 2.4 533 processor. I went over to frys, and got myself a 3.0 800 Pentium 4. My temperatures have gone up drastically. Idle - 38c ->>>> 52c Load - 50c ->>>> 68c My video card, hard drives, and PSU are running hotter as well. I am being told that thes...

Do I have a defective CPU?
I just got an Intel p4 3.0 800mhz processor. Its running at an idle of 50 degrees even with the case side open, and my zalman 7000 running at max. I was previously running a p4 2.4 533mhz with the exact same config, and with the case closed. I would get temps of 34c idle, with the zalman at minimum....

I already have the 80mm laying around, and its a very quiet unit. I'm running a 3700bqe with nexus 120mm's up front and back, and a 92mm nexus blowing over a zalman passively cooled 9800 xt. I have a 2.4 p4 being cooled by a zalman heatsink with a nexus 92mm fan. I only run the front 120mm fan if i'...

Antec phantom with fan addition!
I want to add a fan to my phantom. It seems to be getting a tad hot, and I'm getting a bit of system lockups randomly. I don't know if its heat related, but it makes me a bit nervous. I want to put a nexus 80 fan either on the back or the front of it. I was wondering which location would be better. ...

Manually Spin Down Drives from Windows?
Is there a program that manually can spin down hard drives? I know that window's power managment can spin down hard disk drives after a certain period of inactivity. I was wondering if there was a program that let me do this manually.

i went through the exact same thing. Drove me absolutely crazy!!!! I have a 3700 bqe case. I ended up suspending one drive in the 5.25 drive cage, and putting the other one on sorbothane in the regular ralf style in the HDD cage. I used stretch magic btw. Once i did that, the humming went 100% away....

yah, it has a the honeycomb grills, but they're much father apart than the BQE's. I would take a pic, but they've been long cut off. Both of them can be equally quiet. THe BQE has a little advantage because you can use the sorbothane mount, but the AMB has the removable drive cage, which lets you pu...

APFC is an input filter , and it does draw some current, and adds a tiny bit of heat. But given typical PC power usage, this is insignificant. Probably represents no more than 2-3W in normal use, and there are so many benefits... Mike, would you reccomend getting the APFC antec phantom unit, over t...

Antec Phantom Buzzing?
I've been thinking of getting a Phantom mainly because i didn't want to deal with fans ramping up and down at all. I've read that some of you have experienced buzzing from the Phantom. Has it been anything substantial? Something that I could hear from 4 feet away from under a desk? The PSU i have no...

9800 Pro with zalman cooler questions
I'm upgrading to a sapphire 9800 pro ultimate from a nvidia 440mx with the stock fan unplugged. I have idle temps of 39C (processor) 36C (case), and load temps of 50C (processor) and 36C (case) Will my case/cpu temperatures go up a lot because of all the extra heat that is going to be in my case? I ...

I have a 120mm 350 watt version. Its medium noise at its fullest speed, at the silent mode, its VERY VERY quiet, my 5v panaflow 80 mm low flow is louder. However, it emits a tiny high pitched coil sound, even when the system is turned off, much like a television when it is on. Most people don't noti...

9800 pro + zalman versus Sapphire Ultimate 9800 pro
I was wondering about the matchup mentioned in the title above. Will putting a zalman on a stock 9800 pro void the warrenty? Does the Sapphire Ultimate 9800 pro carry any sort of warrenty? Does the Sapphire Ultimate 9800 have poor thermal paste? Can I replace the paste myself without voiding the war...

I have a 9800 pro, and was wondering if the older artic cooling rev 3 would be a better choice because of its external fan control. How quiet is the new revision of arctic cooler compared to the old? set to low? set to high?

Questions about undervolting a Nexus NXP-305 fan controller.
I have the nexus nxp-305 fan controller, and I run my fans ALWAYS below 7volts. If i do the wire swap in the molex connector, to mod it to 7 volts, then hook it up to the nexus controller, will i be able to more precisely adjust my fans? At 100% will they be doing 7 volts? Or does the controller exp...

Panaflow making me unhappy! Will a Nexus make me happier?
I'm running a 92mm panaflow low flow made in japan on the front of my 3700bqe, a la ralf. Its only quiet at its extreme lowest settings, JUST above the point where it will spin up. But it barely pushes any air at this setting. I have them mounted useing EAR grommets, so its not vibration causing the...
