DPC latency issues swayed me from Gigabyte. Abormally high power usage swayed me from ASUS. http://techreport.com/articles.x/12747/16 Lack of PCIe NIC's swayed me away from ABIT (though not important to most people). I could say this "left" me with DFI as the default choice, but that wouldn't be fai...

Thanks; I think I had a socket 775, as my old motherboard was a P5GDC Deluxe; but it really seems like its smaller. Maybe the heatspreader is smaller due to less heat being produced? Not sure. But you can assure me that I wouldn't see considerably better results with the TRUE? The True and Xigmatek...

Arrggh. In typical Intel fashion, they jump on the bandwagon first to remove PS2 ports. I've got a Liteon Airboard which I love more than this mobo. 'Looks like I will need to find an alternative to the DG45FC. If $8 won't break the bank, I think you can have both. http://www.emtcompany.com/product...

What's your distance to Tjunction Max??
I want to know how close I am compared to others. Since the Tjunction can be different for every processor (85c - 105c), the best constant to compare is how far away you are from your own max. I figure us "keep it quiet" folks would be hotter than most others, so I want to see. Load up Real Temp loo...

OK, I think I have it now. I tried a E6600 that somebody let me borrow. Temps for all programs were like this: CPU sensor idle/load: 24/47 Core temps idle/load: ~28/49 This is a good ol' 65nm Core2Duo E6600 and as you can see, everything looks fine running Prime95 with a nice heatsink. CPU and cores...

I can't imagine even the worst example of Q9300 would run anywhere near that hot on a 45nm process I agree. And because it feels cool to the touch, I have to wonder if it's the motherboard sensors. I am not using push pins, but the Thermalright bolt-thru-kit. A lot of people use it. http://www.side...

OK, I put on the Xigmatek and my temps are about the same. Low 50's idle and mid 60's load. Strangely though, if I run it without a fan at all, the temps are the same. Heatsink fins are fairly cold at idle, and barely warm at load. If I touch the heatpipes directly on the Xigmatek, they aren't hot. ...

I purchased the HDT-S1283 and a bolt-through kit. I don't want to mess around any more. I hope it fits my case and mobo though, and clears my RAM and PWM. I'm sure I'll have to mount it blowing up though because it would hit my NB heatsink. http://www.xbitlabs.com/misc/picture/?src=/images/mainboard...

OK, the base of the Ultima-90 is very concave, and I'm not willing to lap it. This just sucks. What a wasted couple weeks. I've never lapped before, nor need to. Does anyone know what Thermalright's return policy is? Is there an equivalent heatsink I could use? I'd prefer something in the 90mm "size...

I wonder if both are convex. I've never lapped (or had to) a heatsink before and I dread doing it to a processor. I have the OEM Q9300 so I don't have an Intel heatsink. I may be willing to buy some cheapo heatsink just to test, but I hate the idea of removing the mobo again and the Thermalright bac...

Q9300 cores idle 45-48c
I just replaced a Q6600 mainly because the temps were high and bought a Q9300. Well at stock, they are slightly worse. I idle between 45-48c for all cores and Prime95 puts them to 62-65c. This is with Speedfan/Coretemp. RealTemp puts them around 4 degrees less respectively. I have a Thermalright Ult...

Ultimate low powered combo. DFI LP UT nF3 250GB + Turion 64
I'm selling the lowest powered rig I ever built. I updated to a new 45nm proc PC, which takes a lot more power. This would be perfect for the lowest powered NAS or Server you could build. ST. Very interesting. Can anyone else confirm his numbers too? If you still have all three processors, I would be interested in how they perform at their respective stock. I don't overclock, but undervolt occasionally. I really only need an E8400, but if the Q9300 power consumption is slightly highe...

I'd have no reason to consider it if the new SI-128SE wasn't $50. 'tis quite expensive. I bought a Thermalright Ultima-90 and it's not doing too good on my Q6600. Based on previous experience, I'm getting very turned off of tower heatsinks. I want to go with a top-down one because my PWM/Mosfets and...

What is a Thermalright SI-120?
There is one for sale on eBay, but I can't find it on Thermalright's web page. Is it basically an older version of the SI-128 (SE) I assume?
