I think the 800A has a few more fins than the 800U.

It's a stock ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with a Zalman ZM-80A heat pipe cooler. They used to sell a 9700 Pro with the same config.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to replace my cooler with an SLK800 very soon and I may buy this stuff instead of using AS.

Hey, ez. Now it's your turn to tell me (and everyone else) if that stuff works :D BTW, I removed the 60mm fan from the WaterX and my idle temps dropped from 44 to 42C. Now if I use this stuff, then theoretically my idle temp could drop to 35C. Do I completely believe this? Nah. But just in case... :)

I unplugged the 60mm fan and placed a 70mm TMD fan on top. It's slightly quieter (still too noisy) but the idle temp has dropped from 46C to 44C.

Quick question. Would Arctic Silver 3 help much (as opposed to the AS1 I'm using now)?

Tonight I think I'm going to remove the 60mm fan and put a TMD or 80mm on top.

It's installed and I am disappointed. To give you an idea of my setup, it's an Antec SX1000 case with two Papst 80mm 8412NGL fans in the back. The CPU is a 2800 Barton and I'm using Arctic Silver (original AS - no bloody 2 or 3 as Scotty would say :) ) My temps are 46 C at idle and 50C after running...

I have one sitting right here to put on top of my Athlon 2800 Barton this weekend.
