Options for Nvidia GFFX 5900 NU

Is there anything else available for a GFFX 5900 NU other than the Zalman unit? I'm not knocking their product. I just want to know if it has any competition.

I have everything installed. One nice surprise is the CPU temp. Idle has dropped from 40C to 34C. I switched from a SLK800 w/ AS1 to Zalman 7000A w/ AS5 and it's a lot quieter. Of course, it may drop even more as the AS5 is given time to cure/set. The computer still is noisy due to the dual fan Lead...

Another nice feature of the case is the built in aluminum CDROM covers. You don't have to go buy new drives or paint your current ones.

That said, I won't buy one because I have made the decision to wait until my Athlon 64 upgrade next year when I will pretty much replace everything, case included.

Did you give AS5 the recommended 200 hr break in period? Including thermal cycling?

Personally, I'd rather have the extra cooling capability. Unless you change your heatsink every week ;)

I have a tube of AS5 on the way. Should have it by Thursday.

The beginning of the end of noise

Well I finally got off my butt and took my first baby steps towards silencing my box. It's not a perfect solution since I'm using an Antec SX1000 chassis and I will still have my Leadtek GFFX 5900 with dual fans, but it's a start. Last night I purchased a Seasonic Super Tornado 400W PS, a Zalman 700...

I'm not saying there is no correlation between the two figures but the order of magnitude of your analysis of comparing Ultras on a noisy box to off-the-shelf no-name units on a silent box is just not believeable. Yeah, that was meant as a bit of tongue-in-cheek hyperbolic exaggeration. Sorry if it...

I tried to explain to him, "You just paid $400 to get speakers with a 98dBa signal to noise ratio. But then you add 50dBa of white noise to the background. That basically wipes your midrange right out. Do you realise that that means that your $400 speakers now only have a 48dBa signal to noise? Wha...

Right now my case has three 30dB 80mm fans plus the two on the video card and two more on the PS. No case rattle or motor growling noises. Just air "whoosh". When I do my Athlon 64 upgrade in January/February, the fan situation will change dramatically from what it is currently. But for right now, t...

I uses rounded cables and I haven't had any problems so far. For my next upgrade I will convert all drives to SATA (either native or a converter) and get rid of giant cables entirely.

Id like to hear one myself first. The power supply is on the bottom in a seperate compartment and appears to be 2 40mm fans, which I doubt is very silent. I've had the pleasure of using a Precision, which is the same case. IIRC, the Precision workstation also had the 2 40mm fans at the 1U-like powe...

There are no green plastic ducts inside? Nearly every Dell workstation I've used has the one fan with several plastic ducts which help to lower temps quite a bit.

It's not on Zalman's website because it hasn't been officially declared as an upcoming product. However, several posts on their forums clearly show that it will be going into production and be available for sale in a few months.
