nailed it. you wont notice m2 being any better in daily use. to us regular users, the only advantage is its smaller size over a 2.5" ssd.SuperMan88 wrote: For SSD vs M.2 it's about budget, how much is an m.2 vs a ssd? I think that for office use I can't notice the difference in daily use.

Re: how quiet are water pumps
ive seen some passive radiators setups on the net, but they involve huge radiators, like out of a cadillac, custom waterblocks, huge plumbing, and use only moderately hot components. for decent results you really have to place the rad at least 2.5 feet above the block. some also put the rad outside ...

only a very small amount of SPCR'ers actually run water cooled rigs . if water were better, for silence, most of us would use it.

you don't actually need low profile memory, just normal memory without a tall heatspreader. (BTW RAM heatspreaders are basically pointless.)Any suggestions for manufacturers that have good low profile dimms?

If a drive is run within its spec'ed temperature range, then there should be no issue with heat (or cold) affecting longevity. same with GPU/CPU/MOBO/RAM.
being cooler (than specs) isnt always better, its just um, cooler.

I feel like its time to point out that cases dont make a system silent. its the components and guts that make it silent. this is especially true with budget cases. repurposing and modding some old heavy beast of a box from dell or HP, will usually result in a quieter computer than any cheap new case...

If you are comfortable with the 80c at gaming, why worry?
- or do you plan on running furmark all the time?!?
my fanless asus gtx750 got very hot running furmark/gaming and throttled in my open air rig, so i ducted my cpu fan towards it.
have you tried yours in a case, with some airflow?

Welcome to SPCR. maybe just keep the case, grab a better fan or 2, use a Kotetsu cooler and a zalman fanmate to find the right speed. the open bay covers can work in your favor, with the proper airflow. ....might be able to duct it straight to the PSU... you could cover the bays with painted wire me...
