Hah. If Intel used their own chipset, the homebrew Mac crowd would love to build a cheap Hackintosh Mini with onboard graphics. Well.. if the new board's going to be faster, use less power and be passively cooled I might have a Dugly (D201GLY) to get rid of. Yeah.. it would be nice to have DRI and s...

Heh. I mainly use my remastered Live CD as a backup to reinstall PCLinuxOS after I've hosed the HD install; versus having to install/update everything again and getting the 2D acceleration to work. The last time was when after installing Suse on my USB stick it managed to screw up the partition reco...

dougz - I was browsing through mini-itx.com and saw a few of the humidor projects there and thought the same thing; although they used smaller fans. I might give another go at modding another humidor; this was my first wood project and I learned a few things. Eh. One of these days I'll get around to...

Hrm.. I'll have to think about getting the D201GLY2. I'm not too interested in using SATA since I have a 1.8" drive in my current case ; along with a slim slot load DVD burner, wifi USB adapter and 80mm fan. But passive would be nice since I could use a smaller "case". Then again, I did manage to to...

I'm currently using KDE in PCLinuxOS. EXA works but tended to be a bit buggy, no crashes though, so I disabled it shortly after enabling it; it's not a default setting and from what I've gathered it's a bit buggy with many chipsets. Some of the windows weren't compositing/rendering correctly. I also...

Most of the Sis 662 video driver rpms from Intel site; Mandriva, Suse, Redhat. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=REC1SCR6 I manged to get the 2d acceleration working in PCLinuxOS by using rpm2cpio <rpm> | cpio -id to unpack the Mandriva files and then copy them to their respective location on the hard dr...

I'm running PClinuxOS on the D201GLY and I have everything working except 3D acceleration. There's horrible screen tearing using the default Sis drivers and VESA just sucks. I managed to get 2D acceleration working by using files from the Mandriva rpm that Intel had up. I've also found that there ar...

Late to the game, but I've used Drive Image 7 also numerous times. I don't think it actually exists anymore though; Symantec absorbed it years ago. I found this when I decided to check for updates for the program. It was the basis for the Norton Ghost package. *chuckle* Symantec bought Ghost out too...

You could always toss in another IDE channel & SATA using a PCI card; $20 PCI SATA / IDE Combo. Not a perfect solution, but it's something.

Hah! My wife asked me to look at her mom's computer since they couldn't figure out why it would POST, but nothing else. She had 5 cats at the time and it was sitting on the carpeted floor. So I took it home, plugged it in and then noticed an odd smell coming from it. I opened it up to find it caked ...

Mine came in on Friday, but I'm waiting for a few more parts to come in and I need to start modding a humidor to toss everything into. So far it's going to have 1Gig of RAM and a 20Gig 1.8" drive; I'm debating whether I'm going to put in an optical drive (I think I have a slim slot load around somew...

A little warm? Those temps sound fine to me. What CPU are you running? I only have two fans total in my NSK2400, running an E6400, 2 HDs, a 7600GS and a NVIDIA DualTV tuner, and the temps on a hot day here get up to about 50C at load; less in the winter. I think the max recommended temp for a Conroe...

Whats with the One S-Video output port (optional), that I've seen listed on www.mini-itx.com? It's shown in one of their images of the board, but I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere online. I'm thinking of picking this board up and having a way to output to a TV would be nice.

I'm currently using an Intel BOXDG965OTMKR in an NSK2400 with the SILVERSTONE SST-NT01V2.0, minus the fan shroud, with great results. At a quick glance your intended MB's layout looks close to the layout of mine. There was a thread a while back with the same setup as mine if you're curious.

I've always felt that researching, and then building your own computer, is a large part of enjoying using that computer. Being able to do exactly what you want to do, versus picking what's offered to you hardware wise, and then being allowed to tinker around has always appealed to me. As with most t...

I currently have 3 machines that run 24/7. My htpc at home with a Conroe e6400, and two dual CPU setups at work; dual dual-core 2.8GHz Xeons and a dual Althlon MP 2000 system. I've had no issues at all running 24/7, although when I'm compiling frames for animation Folding takes a back seat since the...
