Incidentally, I do believe I've attacked every component. I am contemplating getting something like this: http://www.quietpc.com/uk/harddrive.php#silentdrive for my 2x 250 GB S-ATA drives. I want to find out first though how much of a bother they are, seeing as the case is already dampened down. I'v...

PSU is going to be Noisetaker 475. For all the (gory) details of my "quest", there's this thread here: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=11895 So, PSU is (or should be, at least) quiet as well. Yeah, I know that the GeForce 6800 Ultra is going to be a whiney mother ... but I'll deal w...

So, I'll let you know how THAT Don Quicotian windmill charge goes ;). Nice system. Black Knight was one of the chassis I've NEARLY dec...

Thanks Shadowknight - the thing that worries me about the weight (we're talking 850+ grams here) is that I'll likely be moving my computer a fair bit. So - lifting, throwing it into a car, etc. etc ... it spells out as a lot of vibrations, therefor, a lot of stress on a pretty small area of a mother...

Thermalright SP-94 + Aluminium fan +> Disaster?
Guys, (and gals, if applicable) I've originally intended to shove one of the Evercool Aluminium 92mm fans onto the Thermalright SP-94 which is to cool my 3.4 GHz Prescott. I have - so far - not been able to find one in the UK. In a way, that's good, as I've realized, as the following problem occured...

OK, seeing as people are viewing this but not responding ... (evil grin). I've FOUND in the meantime a place in the UK which does sell the Evercool fans - albeit under the name of Titan. http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/product.php?productid=16441&cat=283 HOWEVER. They don't sell the 92 mm varian...

Reliable (?) Fan database?
Just got pointed at this site from another forum I'm on ... http://gizzo.8m.com/fans/fan120.html ... since you chaps have got the "real world" experience - how reliable is the info on this site? If it's any good, it might make life a lot easier? :). Also, as I guess, this site is somewhat "skewed" f...

A point (other than the power leeching) speaking FOR TFT's is the WEIGHT (which, I believe, no-one's pointed THAT out yet). Handy if you intend to visit friends, go to LAN Parties or somesuch. My next monitor is DEFINATELY not a CRT anymore. Moving 25 Kg's of monitor is getting quite a nuisance. :) ...

Fan Confusion - which to get?
I am in the process of building a new system. For exact details, look at this thread here: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=11895 The most important "to be cooled" details in short: P4C 3.4 GHz with Thermaltake SP-94. 2 x 250 GB S-ATA HD's. Having had to look through PSU aquisition myself, I've come across that problem. Most PSU's currently only off 2 S-ATA power-connectors (if any). There's two ways around it. 1: Buy Western Digital S-ATA drives, as they come with BOTH connectors (Molex and S-ATA) for your convenience. My other reason...

I am beginning to contemplate, whether it wouldn't just be easier to have a seperate kettle-lead going to the 6800 Ultra. Course, there'd be a requirement for auto-sensing, as having that expensive a graphics-card go "bang", just because you forgot to switch from 110V to 220V (or vice versa) would b...

Hmmm ... upon think a little on this one. This would make a LOT of sense for the Enermax NoiseTaker 475's approach of a SEPERATE 12V rail for the mobo. Since this would no longer be shared out between the mobo + HD's + the rest + "the big 6800", this MIGHT make it possible to connect just the one st...

Re: the above Fair point - I do agree. However, I suspect that (in the end), this is "just" the NVIDIA reference design, and maybe some clever OEM gets the idea :). Since it's already eating up another PCI-slot, might as well make it worth it... At any rate. What worries me is the insistance on two ...

Initiation of the ignorant - difference: ball & sleeve b
Hiya all. I was wondering what the actual DIFFERENCE to a (fan-related) layman like me would be? Is ball-bearing (for instance) better for silence, but more expensive to manufacture? Has it got to do with size? (There seems to be a trand of 80mm and smaller being sleeve, larger fans being ball-beari...

I am also interested in one thing on this PSU - how many Molex-"channels" are there? I've tried counting them, from the review on SPCR (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article149-page1.html) but haven't had any luck. The issue is quite critical for me - as I too intend to get a GeForce 6800 Ultra. Tha...
