This should be quiet enough for SPCR... HR-07 Not sure about the extra weight hanging off your RAM, although the motherboard clips should be ok. You can even stack a few of these together and mount a fan on top, if you're really worried about your memory. Those clip-on coolers, with the light...

I suggested a few extra questions added to the registration form- anyone that wants to join would have read a number of threads and articles already, so I dont think it's unreasonable to expect any new genuine members to get the answers right. My earlier suggestions involved which PSU would they cho...

mATX Case- which one for a second system?
Hello all, As I'm sure you're all aware, a new year means a new PC, and this time I've decided to go small, and also use up some 'spares' that I have floating around for a light gaming/HTPC/Web machine. I'm stumped as to what case to use, however. mATX cases cost a fortune locally, so I've pretty mu...

First of all- sanity  Next, will it fit on the motherboard- Yes, one way or another. Either it will fit (and you'll have to use a tall case with a short motherboard), or it won't fit but you can make it work anyway, You're pretty much resigned to losing every other PCI slot by going for this, b...

For the original question, AnandTech have just tested a bunch of production cards, for heat/power/performance etc.

Someone will have, to save all of us the time and expense.
I believe Corsair are one of the many companies rebadging someone else's PSUs, and you can guarantee that they keep the quietest ones for themselves, lest they go out of business.

:!: This thread is on a knife-edge... I'll try to keep it on the light side: do we know if the 16cm fan is thermally controlled? I'd expect that it is, but it doesn't make much difference if it's always too hot  (there were rumours of overheating consoles at the last few public demos) Doesn't ...

I'd suggest going for the VF900 instead- the better cooling power means that you can run the fan as low as it will go all the time, even when gaming. On my 6600GT, the card never broke 44c under extended load, with the lowest setting available from the ZM-MFC1. 8) It's a little more expensive, but I...

It sounds to me like there is cause for a good whipping (from both the customer and manufacturer) of the supplier! 1. For selling off their "Free Samples", which is almost certainly illegal :? 2. For telling the customer to buy the expensive case instead, because the cheap versions are all crappy :x...

You probably don't need to strip any wires. The first four channels use the standard 3-pin connectors, through which you can vary the speed. The final two channels use terminal blocks and these are set to be either 12v, 5v, or Off. I'd recommend only using the last two channels for extra case fans o...

...because the enclosure will not conform to the open side of the HDD, where the circuit board and black plastic is. This is the main area for dissipation of heat from the HDD. While you can mount a heatsink relatively easily onto the flat metal on the other side, this isn't as effective for cooling...

Incidentally, you mention your PSU is spinning up- is there an intake underneath it, i.e. a hole in the floor of your case? I cant see if the mesh continues right to the back of your case, or if it's centred about the middle. It looks like it could be starving your PSU, if the fan isn't getting enou...

Since installing it, it's caused pretty much every problem that I've had on my PC (Norton Ghost wasn't even funny- went from 30 seconds start-up to about 5 minutes, so that was removed  ). With the difference in...

A little out of my depth- help!
Hello all- I've been folding for SPCR for a little over a week now, and during that time I've finished 4 or 5 WU's. However, my latest unit seems to be a bit beyond my Athlon 3500+, and I'm wondering if there's any way to swap it for something a little more realistic? http://img144.imageshack.us/img...
