You know what guys? Sometimes we need a role model to show to the newbies how things should be done. As a guideline, I suppose. Perhaps one of you here have a kickass computer that's very silent, and Mike Chin should put it up on display as "SPCR ROLE MODEL". Like in school, where the teacher shows ...

Thermalright SP-97 heatsink - pictures inside
Yup, the latest heatsink from Thermalright, so new it's not even on their website! Basically it's an SP-94 copper heatsink but made for AMD processors, with its 3 heat-pipes and weight. p/s: When is SPCR, going to include SLK947u and Sp-94 into its Recommended Heatsinks list? http://myweb.hinet.net/...

I guess the people who're concerned with silent/quiet computers are those 1) who don't blast their speakers all the time. 2) who overclock their PCs with 10 fans or more. Is it safe to say those who like quiet computers are more of the relaxed, clear-headed type? Maybe that's why people here seem mo...

Sticky for compatible Zalman and ArticCooling heatsinkcards?
I wonder if you guys agree that we should've a sticky here on this forum which lists the cards that're compatible with Zalman ZM80A/C and Artic Cooling heat sinks. A lot of topics I see here are people asking if the Zalman can fit on this one or not.... Since there're people here who uses them, it m...

BTX casings to push for cooler and quieter PCs?
Well, the BTX casings won't be here until next year, or maybe 2005, but I heard that it'd be pushing more for cooler and QUIETER PCs. Finally, at least nowadays quiet is given more consideration than merely overclocking. So what do you guys think? Should we wait for BTX or splurge on ATX casings now?

You know, my friends who're mostly overclockers will always challenge me when I talk about Panaflo and other silent fans. They sort of look down on them as they say the low CFM they produce is not worth it to cool down the system. What can I say to depend my arguement? Malaysia may be a tropical cou...

I was about to post this topic when I found it. Anyway, supposing if I'd a 500g Thermalright SLK-947u heatsink with 80mm Panaflo fan on it and an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro with ZM80C heatsink with an 80mm Panaflo fan on it....There's about 1 kg of weight on the motherboard. In this case, is it safe to mou...

Your opinion on the Vantec Iceberg 4?
Well, visited my local overclocking shop, and the guys suggested that I go for a Vantec Iceberg rather than a Zalman ZM80 heatsink for cooling the Radeon 9800Pro card. The guy was saying that the Vantec Iceberg cools very well and is also very quiet, but I'm not sure whether to believe him because t...
