Re: New xBits 120 mm Fan Roundup, Part I: 1350 RPM or Lower

The leader fans all cost more than the Nexus so we can still call it king. Hmm, on a performance/$ basis, maybe. But to get the quietest I really don't mind paying more. Even double the price if we're only talking about fans. It's just a matter of preference then. You're willing to pay more for a d...

Re: Computer hooked to TV via HDMI looks bad

Thanks for that info. Interesting, I thought I had seen 1366 before. Maybe it's an option in Windows when I plug it in with VGA. *edit - it isn't an option over VGA either. I can't remember where I saw that. Maybe just remembered it was a standard resolution. I guess I'll stick with VGA for now sinc...

Re: Computer hooked to TV via HDMI looks bad

Wow thanks for replying Melissa! I just made a discovery. With the new Radeon 5770 instealled, I plugged my computer into the TV over HDMI once again instead of VGA. Over VGA, the recommended resolution and the clear one was 1360x768 - looked great. So I started going through the resolutions over HD...

Re: New xBits 120 mm Fan Roundup, Part I: 1350 RPM or Lower

Any comments on the Nexus' finish? Well it's not really bad I guess, just beaten by 5 or so fans. It's quite good in CFM/dBa. The Noiseblocker NB Multiframe and the Scythe Kama Flow 2 and Nanoxia seem really great though... Triebwerk too. Those charts at the end are pretty darn awesome. dBa vs CFM i...

Re: News for 2011 Jan 13th (2011-01-13)

"Bulldozer" high-performance CPU architecture is pitched by its makers to have 50% higher performance than existing processors such as the Core i7 950 (4 cores, 8 threads), and Phenom II X6 1100T (6 cores) Booyah! Now we'll still have to wait to see single threaded performance, per thread performan...

Re: Computer hooked to TV via HDMI looks bad

Hmm that's really disappointing. With HDMI/DVI I thought TVs worked just like large computer monitors now but apparently not. I guess I'll have to do some research on my TV model. I'll let you know how the 5770 goes too. I have a feeling I may be looking for a VGA adapter to use which is ridiculous....

Re: cooling AMD X6 II 1090T

After reading all the SPCR articles it seemed like the Scythe Mugen 2 was the best to me too - I've been researching on this same thing for a new build. It positions correctly for AM3 socket. You might want an extra fan for push-pull through the heat sink though.

Re: 140mm fan choices, horizontally mounted

I just noticed this Fractal Designs case review from SPCR - http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1034-page5.html Says the 120mm fan (FD-FAN-120) 11 to 12 dBa and the 140mm fan (FD-FAN-140) is 11 to <11 dBa. Wow. Specified airflow is 38.3 CFM and 39 CFM. Both the 120 and 140 mm fans are very quiet on...

Re: Front fans for positive pressure, bad tradeoff?

Great, thanks for the feedback. Yeah I'll stick with negative pressure then which is what I've always had. I don't know, something mystical about positive pressure or something :) Thanks for the info about the front fans not helping the video card. This will affect my secondary gaming computer as we...

Front fans for positive pressure, bad tradeoff?

I just bought an Antec Three Hundred for my next computer build but I have some other parts to order and I plan to put it together in a couple weeks. There are two front panel spots for 120mm fans and I was thinking about putting a pair of very quiet fans there trying to get positive pressure or at ...

Re: 140mm fan choices, horizontally mounted

I just got an Antec Three Hundred for a new comp so I might have to try this Fractal Designs if I can find them for the top fan. I'll let you know if I do. I saw the suggestion to maybe just leave off the top fan. That makes me wonder about airflow though with the other rear exhaust fan right there ...

I don't think 2008 is the year of the SSD like they said but it's getting there. Once the price goes down more and the capacity goes up, we'll see them becoming more mainstream. Right now they are not. Micron's 34nm flash memory should help it along. I believe they are still the only one with that.

If you look at the rebates (pdfs), one is Radioshack, the other is Ultra. It looks legit. Ultra's requires original UPC, Radioshack's requires a copy of UPC.

lol, yeah I know, the $-.01 was amusing, they must pay me the one cent damnit!
