Never post anything on internet if you're not ok with it being destributed by someone else, who takes credit for it. Hard work will be anonymous. Never post anything incriminating about yourself if it falls into the wrong hands, always use an alias. The internet is the wild west of our time. Anythin...

You can hook up a 3 pin fan to a 4 pin connector. If needed (in your case) you can use a 3 pin splitter, and connect that to the 4 pin connector - on the other side hook up the two 92 mm fans. You can see in your pic: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h243/tds1/fan.jpg the 4 pin connectors have a gu...

Andyb, you're quite pissed off to even change your sig (and from reading, rightly so...). As thejamppa puts it, something has changed. I was impressed by Antec's former services: sending a front panel when one was broken, without charging anything (I happened to notice that in more than one thread h...

Up to a point, I am all for getting new hardware/OS to get the best eye candy. Up to a point. Dx10 cards are compatible with Dx11 (not all improvements will be implemented obviously, though). Dx10 has been out since 2007, yet all games are still backwards compatible with Dx9. Dx10 has been out for y...

For so called "mindless" DM fun, still nothing comes close to Quake 3.
Only a simple movie, there are gems out there, which took months of editing, and perhaps years of acquiring the footage,
There's nothing like anticipating an enemy's position and hitting them

When I made a simple air duct from card board for the CPU HSF it already took me a couple of hours (no way to see the amount of work that went into it though). http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b25/spookmineer/quieter%20PC/IMG_1115.jpg Your work must have ...

Re: First w/c setup - Please help!
I'll try to answer some of your questions... - Is the Coolermaster case above the best one for watercooling? In my opinion, there is no "best case" for watercooling. A good starting point would be any case which offers good quitening aspects (for example the tried and tested Anted P182): the idea is...

If it's the same as upgrading from Windows ME (I know, but it came with the system) to XP, this is true. An upgrade scans the drive for a valid Windows version, then upgrades to the new OS. I once tried with a new disk - it didn't work. Ended up putting in the old drive, then upgrading it. I could h...

It's impossible to keep up the numeral values. Let's say product A got a 9+ a year ago, and now there's product B that tops it, you're pretty much near that 10 to scale it in there (no product is perfect). One option is to scale all the numeral values down, but that would probably mean some retired ...

10 and 12 mm inner diameter is usual (some systems use 8 mm). It depends for some part what the connection of the other parts are, otherwise you have to use adaptors or exchange the barbs. 16 mm is quite thick, make sure the loop doensn't have bends which are too tight, or the tubing might kink. Wit...

Gigantic increase in GPGPU performance in 6 years
Personally, I find this very hard to believe: NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang reportedly made a stunning claim regarding the performance of GPGPU computing at the Hot Chips conference in Palo Alto. GPGPU performance to increase by 570x over next six years 570 times!? [calculating] that is 3,000,00...

You could be right. But even if neither fan was undamaged, the case would sound noisy. And cool poorly. So it's kind of a moot point. This case most probably won't be bought by any SPCR user because of the (measurable) noise, but you can't conclude that there is poor quality control based on 1 of 2...

From my experience: these adapters are a major blockade for airflow: what you gain in external surface is diminished by the backpressure of the adapter. In my case, I had to run my bigger fan about twice as fast as I thought, to achieve about the same CFM (at least, to achieve the same temperatures)...

The case sample we received was equipped with two 50 mm fans — one of them sounded fairly smooth and broadband, while the other had some tonality, a bit of whine, and developed a 'wobble' at higher fan speeds. It may have been damaged during transport, but the other fan wasn't afflicted, so quali...

John Carmack on his Tesla car
At QuakeCon, John Carmack did his keynote as almost every year. [John Carmack: co-founder of id Software and game coder of several games (Wolfenstein, Quake, Doom, current free QuakeLive and in the near future Rage) - I assume this guy is well-known (how many game coders do you know by name?) and al...
