Calling all xbox modders!

I just got myself a new xbox - i see a lot of you have had success modding in a quieter fan, but there seemed to be no real consensus on hard drives. http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=7637&GroupID=3 I was thinking of grabbing this, the samsung SP1604N spinpoint (160gb, 2mb cach...

edwood - try grabbing radlinker. You can set custom profiles up for each game, you just make a new shortcut. Can set AA and AF and stuff as well, it's a great little tool.

Adding heatsinks to a PSU

Fraid i don't have pictures at the moment, but i just wanted to share a really simple but effective mod i did. I started with an antec smartblue 380W - very loud at stock. Firstly, i removed the 92mm and replaced it with a cheap (99p) acrylic cover, with no blowhole. I then replaced the rear fan for...

Heatsink doubling

Alright, i have a zalman CNPS6000 cooling a 2100+. With no fan directing airflow to it i cant even run stock speeds without overheating. So, my solution was to attach a large heatpipe to it, one salavaged from an old hifi amplifier. It has an aluminium plate at the bottom that attaches to the heatpi...

Go for a mobile 2500+. They're available from cpucitystore.co.uk That'll give you high clock and low clock options, and is only £60. That geil ram is good, if not corsair and kingston value are both supposed to have quite quick timings. I believe a 9600 AIW card has everything you need, though i'm n...

If you have an ati card, i'd reccomend radlinker. You can have different clock speed settings for different pieces of software. I have my 9800 set to it's minumum stable clocks when windows loads, and when i game, it automatically speeds the card up for me. Not what you're looking for, but perhaps a...

PWM or voltage regulation for 120mm fans?

I've been advised againt running my 120mm fans from the motherboard headers (and abit NF7) on current issues. Mine are evercools, rated at 0.28A, so that seems reasonable. Currently they're at 5V and audible, but i've had them down to 3 and they get very quiet. Anyway, i thought pwm would be better ...

http://sound.westhost.com/heatsinks.htm nice article there, section 15 discusses heatsink colour. On the ramsinks and heatspreaders bit, i got better timing out of my ram when i installed them, was able to run cas2 at 200mhz instead of 2.5. I think it's a matter of balance - if there is a weaker chi...

I can image by suspending a HD by string would infer less vibrations than even the elastic would. The string vibration would not be transfered to the case. the elastic on the other hand, although ...
