Just a little update on this if anyone is interested. I went for the Spire Bluestar 1000 as I have been able to measure it prior buying and it was a perfect fit. However, there was a catch: this cooler is CRAP in any concievable way. Performance is WORSE than my stock, all-aluminum Intel heat...

This card probably idles lower than your 7600GS, you really shouldn't be too worried about its power consumption.

Pricey... at the cost of one of these, you can buy three Kaze Maru! Which has an inferior bearing When the Kaze Maru's "inferior" bearing will be worn out, you'll still save something by buying another Kaze Maru instead of having purchased one of these at the beginning... :P And, by the way, ...

Well, I have to agree with the ones complaining about the final "extrapolated results", though I really can't understand why some are being so rude expressing their opinion. It has sub-par performance if compared to some of the other coolers previously tested, but I really think that the stock fan i...

Undecided on low-profile CPU cooler

Well it's me again  Now I need to cool down my ITX CPU. As usual when dealing with these tiny machines, space is rare and precious stuff. I fitted a side 120mm fan, this leaves about 4,5 cm to the cooler. Thanks to this configuration though, I can leave the CPU cooler without an additional ...

Hi, I did read your and others' comments on that topic, but I still won't use any CPU fan. The top giant fan on my P180 Mini is more than enough to cool down a passive heatsink, and I really won't go without it; also, the rear fan is undervolted at a fixed speed of around 700 rpm. Therefore, by not ...

Fine then, my choice is done: the Z600 is definitely the one I need :D
Thanks for the help!

Silverstone's own top-down coolers (NT-something) are almost designed for this case, so they're a good choice. Another hit would be the CoolerMaster GeminII.

Hmmm, the Ninja 2 + Stabilizer combo will cost me about 10 € more than the Prolimatech as I'll have to buy online, so the best choice is the Z600 then. Am I right? :o

Another fan you have to consider is Scythe's S-Flex. They're as quiet and much more affordable than those Noctuas, and are just as reliable.

Undecided on passive CPU cooler

Hello fellow silencers! :D I just got my home machine a shiny new Q8200 CPU. I like to see things running as fast as they can so I overclocked it to 3,2 GHz on stock voltage. The only problem is that my passive OCZ Vindicator can't cope with the added heat it has to deal with (I used to have a much ...

Hi, the slowest fans are less suited to undervolting, if you want to run one at say 5v you have to get a fast enough fan. 800 rpm fans are usually to be kept at full blast for adequate cooling while still being relatively quiet.

Advice needed for small and slim fans

Hello silencers! I'm in the need to silence my newly built ITX rig, while at the same time improve its temperatures. I need a few advices on the fans I need to get to accomplish this. Basically, what I want are: 1) A 80x80x20mm fan for the PSU (this one will be at full blast); 2) A 60x60 fan for the...

Rearranging pins is waaaaaaaaay much more professional (and undoable) than this, but hey, everyone should create his mods the way he likes them more, so if you like this, then it's a good one :P

Got two, they're somewhat light due to the small central hub/engine, but they leave a quality feel in your hands. I heard that the fastest versions are a bit heavier, so if you judge a fan by its weight, they're preferable. :P

Re: Trouble in reading RPM on an undervolted Slipstream

Probably the reason you don't have that info on the Tricool's is that no one would bother doing that study when there are better fans (more CFM, for less noise) out there for not much money. They aren't horrible stock fans (like Zalman's) but they aren't that great either. Fact is, this is really t...

Trouble in reading RPM on an undervolted Slipstream

Hello people, today I ran into a strange problem after lowering my fans' speeds. I have an Antec P180 Mini with a Scythe Slipstream 800 in the lower front bay; to get the lowest possible noise from my rig together with an adequate cooling I used the supplied molex adaptor to get 7v to both the front...

Undervolt the CPU and keep it fanless as a first attempt. :D

If this doesn't work out, then the only option I see is reversing the CPU fan so it will pull air from the cooler.
