Re: EVGA G3 650w buzz during games (also causing electromagn
It could be the electricity grid - your local electrical supply could be noisy. This could be negated by using a battery backup unit, that isolates your computer from that possible electrical noise. Another thing to check is whether the wall plug(s) you are using are wired correctly; with this kind ...

From that picture, it looks like the the intake is on the bottom, and the exhaust is out the middle of the back? If so, then that seems inefficient.

Re: EVGA G3 650w buzz during games (also causing electromagn
Welcome to SPCR, EVGA doesn't make their PSU's. It may be FSP (Fortron Source Power) that builds that unit? FSP is a good company. Actually a review on Tom's says that Super Flower makes that particular unit. This sort of noise is sometimes happens in individual units - variations in parts are unavo...

Re: R5 vs NZXT H440, could this be a cooler and quieter case
The close up of the PSU bay shows one of the problems: the slots for the air intake are about 50% CLOSED. A larger hex opening grill is far more open.

Don't get me wrong - my case has a window, and my motherboard and video card have lights. My keyboard here at work have RGB - which I using to differentiate areas, making it easier to do my work. My mouse here at work also has RGB - but I don't use it, to extend its battery life.

Re: quietest 80x15mm fan
Greetings and welcome to SPCR, It has been a while since most of us have even dealt with a 25mm thick 80mm fan, but the same principles apply. The bearings and motor, and the frame material and geometry, and blade shape and RPM range - are the main factors. For example, this fan has ball bearings an...

Re: How much difference does a window make?
The main difference is with a window, you can't have a dampening sheet on the inside. I don't think a window is make or break, but it is going to be quieter without one.

I have been happy with my Logitech G810 with the Romer G switches. Slightly quieter than a Das Keyboard with o-rings. I also have a Corsair with Cherry Red and o-rings.
The G413 is the lowest price unit with Romer G switches.

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide
In the end, the FT05 will be a fine case, with the cable space being the main caveat. I was running SLi for Folding@Home and getting better draw distance playing No Man's Sky on my 34" 2K monitor.
The card and my old case will be fine for a computer for my daughter.

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide
I am bummed - the 2nd video slot on my motherboard has apparently dies, so the whole point of the FT05 is negated. The cable management is tough - I will take a crack at it soon. Even with a standard length PSU, and splitting the HD carrier so it holds my one drive, the bend of the wire bundles at t...

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k
In my experience, when you take off the door and temps drop - you need to get the air flow to be "cleaner" i.e. less complex and less turbulent. A positive pressure case seems to have pockets of still air - which is not what you want. Also, you need to work with the natural air flow - intakes on the...

Having just 1mm of clearance means that even with these sticks, the fan would be very close - unless the fan can be shifted slightly? I think though, that heat spreaders on RAM are largely decorative. Edit: the SPCR review shows the clearance: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1395-page3.html If ...

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k
Well, the heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink base is critical, as I'm sure you know. The grain of rice size thermal paste is the gold standard, as far as I know. If you have a flaw there, then that is not going to be overcome with more air flow.

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k
My guess is that trying to have an intake at the top of any case is not going to be helpful. The natural convection is for warmer air to rise, and the best air flow set up works with this; not against it. There is only one or two coolers that has better cooling than the Ninja 4, and the Ninja is pro...

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k
We both had issues until the side door was removed. Your case looks like the intakes are more constricted than on mine - and until I added the top 140mm fans, mine had issues. Your case also has more internal obstruction - the drive frames, in particular. The Ninja 4 is one of the best coolers, and ...

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k
I think your case is the bottleneck. My current system is in a Phanteks Enthoo Pro M, and the key thing I had to do to get temps down AND make it much quieter - was to put in a top fan. I added 2 actually - the first one made a huge difference. My current case has intakes galore - and yet I could on...

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide
Thanks for the feedback, folks. My FT05 is estimated to be delivered next week. I will do the cable stuff myself, though my son will want to do the transfer from my Phanteks case. It can't be any harder than in the old Evercase, since that had no access behind the motherboard. The main thing is the ...

What was the case that rotated the motherboard so the back I/O is at the top? That air flow model seems most likely to be quiet.

Re: Windows virus infect Android?
I would be wary, since Android is common, and the virus might have a variant version? Here's what I would do: download a Linux ISO file (I would suggest Ubuntu) and make a bootable disk (or USB drive?). Boot to that, and then use the suspected USB drive, and copy the files you need to the hard drive...
