Re: Acoustipak for Antec Sonata
Well considering the fact that installation of an acoustipak is better before you add in the hardware i wanted to get some feedback on this particular item before i put my computer together. for 80 bucks is this a good product that will noticeably dampen my case noise? I kno i can get uncut sheets ...

http://scasp.webnow.biz/upload/a0000010/en_US/prd_1206.jpg Are the white / aluminium bits visible behind the black mesh on your model or is it just a bad picture. I ordered the AcoustiPack for the Sonata and have to say that I'm impressed. It's basically foam blocks and foam sheets and don't look like much but they actually work. The foam blocks around the HDD seem particuarly effective - where my DiamondMax 9 made a very loud noticeable clickity clack sound ...

Haven't tried the SilenX but I've got the Pabst 4412FBL and the Nexus 120mm and I think the Nexus is excellent. You can get it for less than £20 as well:-

I'd go for the Nexus 120mm available from www.kustompcs.co.uk
Cheaper and just as quiet (if not quieter) that the Pabst.

What's the point of dumping 30W+ of heat right back into the case? I don't actually think its going to be as significant as you think it will be. My CPU probably dumps 70W-90W of heat into my case, disappated only by a small slab of finned copper. That doesn't have any adverse effects on the temper...

I'm running the TT SilentBoost on a 2500+ o/c'd to 3200+ (2.2ghz) at 1.74v. The SilentBoost is noisy at its highest setting, so I have mine running 1050rpm - close to its lowest setting - which is pretty quiet - in any event the noise is drowned out by my Antec Sonata 120mm fan and PSU. CPU temps ar...
