We need to wait for PartEleven to get back to be sure. But from my reading the Pico was previously running a Biostar M7NCG, which AFAIK doesn't have ATX 12V.ntavlas wrote:He did power on a different motherboard with the same psu so we can assume that he does use the 12v connector.

Woah - apologies for double post but ...... I presumed that you had an ATX 12V power connector (the 4 pin, 2 yellow & 2 black) on the Pico. But the default config from mini-box does not include one. Have you added one? If not, my test above will more likely prove that you need one (than that there i...

OK, so it has to be some issue related to the PicoPSU/Antec adapter combo (as per your first post!). I would doubt it is the brick - but would be handy to check the wall power draw during POST for both the Antec and your spare PSU. Obviously seeing the actual peak is a lottery but having an idea of ...

Where's the heatsink? In your second pic above, there are finger like aluminium bits holding down some grey components on the bottom of the psu tunnel. On closer inspection it looks like there are also components bolted to the top of the psu 'tunnel'. So looks like the designer is using the whole p...

Yup - power supply. I presume the fan in your pic is exhausting air to the right. I would start by converting those pathetic slits on the outside of the case into a proper outlet for the fan, duct the PSU/fan directly to the outside of the case and then drop the fan voltage. And/or if there is room ...

I put a zener diode on a 24V fan in an HP Laserjet that was bugging me. BUT YMMV - my logic was that the manufacturer designs the cooling for whatever ambient temps it says in the spec. In my case it was 40 or 50C, and as my ambients are more like 20-25 I figured I was safe to detune the cooling a b...

I'm with RoGuE on this - get a router that supports WPA and put a decent passphrase on it. It doesn't matter what you put for a WEP passphrase it can be cracked in minutes - avoid WEP. Re: Teaching religion in school is child abuse ?
Forcing children to attend school is only for their good, right ? Not at all - it is for the benefit of society. Better educated citizens provide a more capable society e.g. workers who will be higher earners and pay more taxes to help assist the less able (e.g. pensioners). Which is why education ...

Note headline fan airflow specs are in free air (no back pressure) - in reality your config has back pressure. To cause an argument assume your fan airflow will be half its free air spec.

Same CPU, somewhat similar setup (see sig) Add a fan to the HR-01+. How big a problem would the orientation be? Would another 800RPM fan be enough? This option gets my vote. My hsf is off when CnQ is active (but PC is folding) - gives CPU temp around 40C. If I disable CnQ then under folding load CPU...

49W by the rest of the PC. What CPU is that? It's pretty low powered, not at all typical. 4850e with CnQ running it @ 1000MHz. At full speed the whole system (780G based) is 100W: assume the PSU efficiency is up to 75% that is about 75W. [At 1000MHz it folds about 30 pts/hour which is what it does ...

Well, I disagree. Or at least, it depends. I think there is often a case to be argued that more than 1 fan is over-engineering, especially in these days of 12cm fans. To cause an argument let me describe my system. It is running 70W at the wall, lets assume the PSU is 70% efficient. That means 21W b...

I know in the review it says that it isn't designed as a passive cooler because the fins are too close, but would it be able to passively cool a 5400+ that has been slightly undervolted?
