Has anyone tried the ThermalTake Volcano 9?

I read some reviews, and it sure seems as if it would be a good performer. Not so sure about that fan. It has a speed controller and a thermistor. It looks a little bling bling for my tastes, but I am just not getting the performance I need from the Zalman 6000Cu.

Bummer, unfortunately, less DB(a) usually = less CFM.

They the Zalman CNPS6000Cu. Good cooling, no sound.

Totally agree. Perf-wise its not an overclocker, it just keeps you cool for less noise. I must say however that the installation was not quite as easy as I read. Of course maybe I just have no coordination. Those fins just bend a little too easy, and they never go back quite right. Still, about the ...

Interesting, I looked at that ENHANCE ENP-0730 at www.newegg.com, and the customer reviews are not too great. One of them compares the sound of the PSU to his diesel truck.

I wonder if the part where you switched the fan to intake really helped the temps. Did you try swapping directions to see which performed better?

I was always under the impression that if you can only have one fan, point it out. get that heat out 8)

EDIT:

BTW, sounds like a sweet rig.

Panaflo makes a low CFM/ Low noise 60mm fan. Not exactly cheap, though. The Vantec stealth is cheaper

Directron has Panaflo 60mm here: http://www.directron.com/60l1a.html

and Vantec here: http://www.directron.com/sf6025l.html

Vantec makes a stealth 60mm fan that is not too bad. I'm not sure it will have enough CFM for you though. There is also a Panaflo, which I assume would be better. ( I am biased) They are both rated at 12CFM, and according to AMD specs, you need 15cfm, but I would imagine that is based on their "stan...

<br>OK, I installed the older Geforce 256 w/o fan and booted up. The squeal is much worse.
<br>Replacing the GF4 MX 440 again, the sound returns to normal.

<br>I am stumped.

<br>>>Maybe the reduced airflow allowed PSU temps to go too high on your setup? What are your normal room, case & CPU temps?
<br>>>
<br>
<br>Temp seems in line with normalcy.
<br>Case 28C, CPU 38C, Room is 24C.
<br>
<br>I will swap the PSU and see if I can narrow this down any.
