There are a couple ideas about this on another thread... there's also some photos a good method to decouple near the bottom. Here's the link.

ATX --> Form follows function. I'd disagree. IMHO, the most efficient way to have a system running would be to have the processor and the PSU in the lowest part of the case to get the coolest air ... maybe fan vents in the base right below these two points and then have the PCI cards which don't ne...

From what it sounds like I think I know why you're getting those nice temps :) My only exhast is the 80L1a in the PSU running at 7V. The fan on the CPU is a 92mm panaflo at 6V with duct. And the one over the GPU is a 5V panaflo 80L1a. There are a few heat sources though including the TV card that's ...

Well, I dunno, the colored plastics never really appealed to me much, I always thought they looked like toys I played with as a kid. Of course its identified as a Mac, but I gotta agree, I would love a SFF or Epox that would fit in a shelf or just blend in and just have an LCD on the desk, keyboard ...

Probably more like SilentOCD... you could try separating the PSU from the case with cardboard and duct it through a forward 5.25 bay to get air... That should keep temps down for the PSU. Though the CPU fan may have to work in teh opposite direction and become the sole exhast... I'm down to 3 fans, ...

I have an Antec PP353x. Originally had 2 fans, 1 80, 1 92. I replaced the 92 with a L1a 80 and left the other one empty. Someone suggested getting a regular thermometer (the kind you put in your mouth to see if your sick) to get a round-a-bout idea of the exhast temp. I tried it and I came up with 3...

I'd agree, I linked some thermal photos of an Epox motherboard, I would hate to have some of those components running without air circulation. On the other hand, you could double your radiator fan as an exhast also to allow for circulation. http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4335&highl...

When I said it made noises, I meant the card started to creak as I applied pressure from the screwdriver and I was pretty sure I was going to break the card. I had the same issue. There's going to be a significant amount of force to undo the thermal adhesive they used. When I did it my screwdriver ...

Ya definately get props for the ingenuity of that pump mounting! My watercooling theory is actually visited more in depth in other forums :) I would love to try watercooling if a PSU company ever built a PSU to be installed into a water cycle out of the box (probably should patent that idea...) I've...

The buzz you're hearing is from the PWM circuitry from the fanbus. If I recall, PC Toys Fanbus is just a rebadged Vantec Nexus (not the PSU, its a fan controller). There's a lot of talk in the forums about its questionable quality of circuitry. Most have had luck returning it due to the buzzing. Som...

Well, the fan can stay, its only late at night that the two fans end up creating vibrations that are audible ... and the HD whine still overpowers that to some extent ... it hasn't ended yet, but the comp is stable while folding ... I really should hit up radio shack for a thermocouple with the next...

I have a two optical drives in my quiet system now. The system is a Foxconn TU-150 steel case, 3 Panaflo 80l1a fans, 2 on a hard mounted zalman bracket and the last decoupled in the PSU, and 'cuda IV 40 drives (decoupled). No foam, but I don't really want to bother just yet. CDRW: HP 9100i (8x4x32)....

oh yeah, forgot about that :) The draw rate is just a snapshot of what's currently being done it happens every so often, set by the redraw rate. It doesn't help processing go faster as the rate of processing remains stable (save for the 1-2% amount of CPU/GPU power used to redraw), so you can set it...

I'm using a stick of generic memory, though its Samsung chips (1 x DDR 2100, 512Mb). At the moment timings are CAS 2-2-2-5, though it posted, I want to know the actual settings. The SPD timings aren't listed on the stick of RAM so I have no clue what they are! Does anyone know of a program that will...

I don't think its much faster, estimated CPU use time for the graphics portion is supposedly between 1-2% of overall and close to nothing when its minimized. The difference is that with the text client you can add some of the tags that may force you to optimize methods in case the graphical client d...
