OK, first of all, Zalman does not make fans that are 19cm, Im not sure if anyone does, as it would be a huge ass fan  . The biggest they have is 92mm. The normal case fans are 80mm. I think the flower type coolers are shipped with a 92mm fan on a bracket. I just got rid of four 80mm Zalmans in ...

I have the lian li pc6070 and its a damn nice case. My vote goes for that case Yeah, I am trying to find someone here in Sweden who has it in stock. Found a friendly retailer who is in contact with Lian-Li. Hopefully I will know on monday. Otherwise I will probably get the Antec SLK3700, which is c...

My 8-yo daughter would *not* vote for that yucky glossy black stuff. She'd say, "Go for the Barbie case!" Of course, she's been lobbying for her own computer AND her own TV AND her own phone... He he, well, my son is just 9 months old so he doesnt protest. Its mostly my wife who is making strange n...

Antec Sonata? I like 'em... Yeah, its a nice case but Im not so sure about the glossy finish on it. My options are down to the Lian-Li PC-6070 or the Antec SLK3700 which look better than the CompuCase version plus a better PSU. Not sure about the clearance behind the door since I have a Zalman fans...

Re: Case upgrade hell!
Since you asked, though this was not one of the options you listed....I've been able to get pretty good noise reduction (no scientific measuring equipment--just my ears) in my Cheiftec Dragon midtower by using some of the DIY methods from the Cases & Damping forums (roofers tape and carpet underlay...

Case upgrade hell!
OK, I'm considering upgrading my old Chieftec Dragon bigtower to a more quiet case. The cases I'm considering are: Lian-Li PC-6070 - This is a nice case, although it is expensive here in Sweden. It's lined with foam already, which is good. It does not have a decoupled drivecase, but it might be poss...

Fan mufflers?
Had anyone tried a ready-made fan muffler or perhaps built one themselves? If you've tried, whats the verdict? Im thinking of building a custom case with a bunch of 120mm fans, and Im wondering if I should put mufflers on them or just a duct with some kind of absorber inside.

Antec SLK3700 door clearance?
Does anyone know how much space there is between the door and the bays on this case? I have a Zalman fancontroller that has around 1.5cm knobs sticking out.

OK, McMaster doesn't carry ANY 6-32 shoulder bolts, period. They carry 4-40, 8-32, and all metric ones. Can anyone source a part number from Home Depot or Lowes, etc? :?: One way to go if you cant find the shoulder bolts is to use a spacer and a regular screw thru it. it would have to be a lo...

Decoupling CD/DVD drive?
Is it a good idea to decouple the CD/DVD drives? I'm not talking about suspending them in bungee cord, but maybe using EAR grommets.

I don't mind ordering more and then shipping them on to sweden. But maybe we should wait until I find ou...

ok... just turned her off for 10 minutes... so here we go: I have 3.2cm clearance from drive edge to side panel, and less than a half a centimeter between holes so I reckon you have less than 4 centimeters clearance even when mounted deep. Ah crap, that rules out the Sonata then :( But thanks anywa...

Mr Majestic... sorry I didn't get back to you sooner... I have been on holidays. If you mount your drive in the first rather than second hole of the drive rails you will have plenty of room. I didn't put my steel ruler in there... but I should be powering my box down tonight to detach my video fan ...

I have my drives mounted dead center, and there is room on either side. Post the clearance you need and I will pull out my trusty ruler. inches or centimeters are fine, but please specify which. Thanks, that would be great. I need closer to 5 centimeters, depending how well the SATA cable bends. Bu...

I wouldn't do it. You need to pull in cooling air from somewhere. The front intakes are down low so the air flows over your drives, RAM and PCI cards on it's way out the back of the case. That's how it designed to work. If you plug the front fan holes it will get sucked in from wherever it can, inc...

Covering fan intakes on Chieftec big tower?
Im planning to get some pre-cut magic fleece for my Chieftec Big Tower. It looks like it will cover the front fan intakes. Will this make my case too hot or is it ok? I have 5 drives, but will probably cut it to 4 when I change motherboard.

I am currently trying to change the exhaust fan on an Enermax PSU. Im going to put in an Enermax adjustable fan instead. The problem is that there is apparently some kind of temp monitoring going on giving me very low voltage to the fan. There is a temp sensor stuck to a coil inside of the PSU so I ...

Thanks for the reply. At the moment the Enermax fan is powered from outside of the PSU to ensure that it always spins. I will change the thermistor with a 100k pot later and probably take out the Enermax fan and put in a Zalman instead. Zalmans are cheaper than Enermax and Panaflos arent readily ava...
