hey there. I have a similar setup which to my ears is v quiet. I have the ultra 120 heatsink with only the rear exhaust on (on low) , the top exhaust off, and a 1200rpm scythe fan on the 120. I have a asus 8800gts superclocked and it fits fine in the p182 though it does get close to the hdd cage, th...

I'm pleased to say thanks to this site and its forum users I finally have a pc that is fast and quiet *sigh* I received the silver p182 having ordered the p180. Woo! The cable management around the back of the motherboard is worth it alone. Switches on the outside of the case are a nice touch, but i...

quick (hopefully) xp question
Having installed an oem windows on this machine and found myself on the phone to microsoft for a long time day in and out (wrong type of key believe it or not), I'm getting fed up with xp oem and its activation limits. I had an oem xp on the last machine and that had horrors when i went to SP2. Now,...

I'll be putting together a similar system today mate so I'll let you know if the Samsung drive mucks about at all. I've read that some SATA drives are being awkward with certain motherboards, so perhaps it's a BIOS thing, unless it used to be ok? I had a Sony ATA once that did a similar thing, so I ...

Re: Users of 30" 2560x1600 monitors - some advice pleas
I increased the size in windows and firefox. In winxp I used the "accwiz.exe" accessibility wizard, and on firefox the extension "nosquint". Without those two things I using this monitor would be a pita because like that user said, the text is too small. My eyes are between 50-60cm from the screen....

Those are much better temps. Good work. I wouldn't panic too much about the load temperatures skipping about. Others might, but I'd turn a blind eye and blame... um... the cat. Get a cat if you need one to blame. Or send hate mail to mine ;) Fan-speed wise I find knobs on the front of the machine a ...

been looking into practically the same system, one difference being the ultra 120 i ordered this morning, but things to note... The scythe ninja B apparently has looser pressure on the processor than the previous rev. Although it will always be hot compared to some, the temperature reporting can be ...

Wouldn't that require different motherboard, ram, and thence cooling? Or is it 775 too? Not sure the price difference warrants a "probably". I'd need proof. [edit] Did a little research. The 3220 is the same chip, same price. The one your suggesting is the 3210, lower clock. Ok, but I'd rather not o...

I was considering the thermalright 120 which is coming back into stock soon apparently according to one of the shopping sites i found it on, and also the Zalman 9700, though the LEDs will be somewhat wasted sitting in a case with no window  I think the 9700 bolts on I was almost hoping someone ...

i'd rather get a quad core with 1333mhz FSB... O_o :D Me too but that's sooo much more cash The ultra 120 seems to be unavailable atm, making me wonder if they've been recalled to fix that 775 bracket spcr found awkward... or they're just so popular it's crazy. Either way, I'm not going to modify t...

The quiet quad core challenge
Hi all! :D I'm a frustrated cgi type with plans on building a quad core system to replace my ageing XP3200+ affair. My current list of components appears below (handily arranged into a scan basket) Do these things go together happily? I'm especially interested in the 3 hard disc RAID 5 plan I've got...

As a kind of benchmark I have a 3200+ running so much hotter than that it's silly. I took out a case fan a few weeks ago and plonked it in another machine instead. The temperatures didn't flinch. Definitely take it out. I only have one intake blowing over the hard discs but that's really slow...
