And if it's peak consumption would be under 150W there wouldn't be any need for two PCIe power connectors! Ever heard of standards compliance? This is interesting: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=271 According to dear jonny, a psu has to supply a minimum of 60A to the 12V rails in order to certify for 8800GTX in Sli. The M12-700 is excluded because it "only" has 56A on the 12V rails. 720W from just the 12V rail(s)? That s...

I would go with what nVidia recommends. Spec sheets don't always translate to reality, and I assume nVidia has actually tested those combinations. That's a lot to assume. It's more likely nVidia has some minimum specs they expect a PSU to have (read: listed specs). Another possibility is a manufact...

Just a guess...
The M12 seem to have a smaller open arera on the back plate than the S12E+. Closed around the AC connection and power switch. Any idea why? Seems a bit strange to me. This is just a guess, but maybe it's because the 60mm fan changes the airflow in such a way so that particular exhaust area isn't us...

Try these...
Try these. Both work for me. The HR-05 works better in a more passive role than does the Jing-Ting.

Re: P180 + M12 Seasonic?
If anyone has any additional tips for silencing this rig, or other suggestions for a case/psu combo, I'm all ears. I like modularity, so removable drive bays, rail mounted drives, modular psu cabling, that sort of thing ranks highly with me. There are lots of posts here on modding/silencing the P-1...

Dito
1. The fat ATX connector (20/22pin) is long enough for most boards. The ATX12v (4/8pin) is not long enough to be routable. 2. no, no 3. no Dito to what he said, with 2 comments: My Antec TP-II 550 didn't have a good reach for efficient routing with the ATX12V either. Another thumbs-up!
Another thumbs-up for JT. I've bought hundreds of $$$'s worth of accessories from them and have had nothing but positive experiences. I concur
I also use the HR-05 as a NB cooler in passive mode and it works excellent. (MSI K8 Diamond Plus SLI x16, but I had to make my own bracket to attach it to the MBO.) Unfortunately, the HR-5 SLI didn't exist when I needed it, so I installed the Jing Ting Forcetake as a SB cooler (passive). I modded my...

JonnyGuru has his review up. Looks great except for the price: http://www.jonnyguru.com/ Here is the final peice of the puzzle: "What Seasonic tells me is that there was an issue with high end video cards overloading a single 12V rail. So with Intel's blessing, Seasonic removed the OCP. Technically...

Re: How are the rails used on the Seasonic S-12 650?
Personally, I don't necessarily like the OCL - it makes load balancing more difficult. That said, I wonder how Seasonic can get away with calling this an ATX12V 2.x compliant PSU when it doesn't have the OCLs... IIRC, Intel has long unofficially waived the OCL as a part of the ATX12V standard for a...

Re: How are the rails used on the Seasonic S-12 650?
12V1 12V2 12V3 12V4 I went to the Seasonic site and could not find info on.. anyone know how the rails are divided up? Based on all the data available, this is what I think: - The main PCB has just 2 12V "rails" - Neither of the 12V "rails" has a 240VA over current limiter ("OCL") - then what exact...

M12-600
I just got my M12-600 and here are a couple thoughts: 1) The 120mm fan is quiet, although my old Antec TPII-550 with a YL fan-mod was smoother sounding. This fan is exactly what was in the older 500-600W models 2) The 60mm fan never runs (though it is in a P180 case) - at least not so far, so I can'...

If I'm gonna hook up the VGA-cooler, I'd like to see what's going on with it. How fast it's turning, the temperature, etc. without needing to use windows-apps (when I need to adjust something I'll probably be gaming, and stuff tends to crash horribly, horribly when I alt-tab in and out of it). So, ...

I purchased a Thermalright 120 to replace my SI-120 and I'm getting ridiculously high temperatures. My E6300 at stock speeds and voltage idles at 65C according to Core Temp. When I start dual priming it jumps quickly to over 80C. The Ultra wasn't even warm to the touch. I swapped the heatsink back ...

the Thermalright XP-120 should fit since it's only 6.3cm tall (8.8cm with a 25mm thick fan). another choice is the Zalman CNPS-7000 CU/ALCU (the 7700 is too big). Brendan The XP-120 is an excellent HS (though more recent models have surpassed it). The big issue with it is MOBO compatability. It's n...
