Re: Help choosing a silent HTPC case.

I think for the sake or reliability you should swap that SSD for a Samsung 183 series (now that the 184 is out, prices should be lower)

Re: Rackmount case w/12+HDD bays, silenceable?

Not sure if i should put this here: what SATA controller are you guys using? I was considering Supermicro's AOC-SASLP-MV8.
Since I'm planning to use FlexRAID, JBOD controller is right for me :)

Re: Rackmount case w/12+HDD bays, silenceable?

Basically this: Norco 4224 case, near-silent PSU (Corsair 650HX in my case, but you can get more efficient quiet ones now), 3x Noctua 120 fans in the midplane, 2x 80mm Noctua's on the rear running on motherboard PWM control (nominally 800rpm, speeds up if it gets hot - which has only happened when ...

Re: Rackmount case w/12+HDD bays, silenceable?

I have a Norco RPC-4116 along with the 120 mm fan bracket. It's a 16 bay case, but it has room for 120 mm fans if you buy the fan bracket, which is not expensive. I have 3 X 120 mm Scythe Slipstreams running at ~1200 RPM along with 2 X Arctic Cooling F8-PRO PWM fans in the back. It is "quiet" but c...

Re: Rackmount case w/12+HDD bays, silenceable?

Will you be running 12 drives in those bays? IMO, 12 drives cannot be silenced (not in SPCR terms). sound proof the closet and vent it with outside air, air conditioning or water cooling. you could also use two large regular (spcr recommended) cases that have drive grommets mounting and 120mm or bi...

Rackmount case w/12+HDD bays, silenceable?

Hi all, I'm planning for a home fileserver, need a case (rackmount if possible, this is going inside a closet) with at least 12 drive bays. I know there are many rackmount cases that fit the specs, but most of those use noisy 80mm fans. Do you know of a case with these specs that's easy to silence? ...

It's from the first batch that came to my country, which is vague. I'd have to remove it from my gaming rig to confirm this, not an easy task being in a P182 w/PSU cage :|

Re: please help me choose, not many choices here

thanks for the feedback Garak!
Would it be too hard to replace a stock fan? I mean, do those use standard 3-pin headers? If so It would be easy to replace with a silent fan, yes?

please help me choose, not many choices here

hi all, these are the ONLY choices in my country, please help me choose which one is quieter:

-Antec BP500U
-Corsair GS500/600
-Corsair CX430/500 V2
-Corsair 650TX V2
-XFX Core 650

and just another alternative: move a 650TX (v1) from my gaming rig and replace it with a Corsair 850HX.

TIA!

I'm getting two Gigabyte GTX460OC, the ones with twin 80mm fans. They're pretty quiet against the nVidia reference coolers. the rest of this setup: MSI P55 GD65 4GB XMS3 1600 i5 750 w/CM 212 Plus (Nexus fan replacing stock one) as always, PSU needs has different opinions, that's why I'm researching ...

if that's the case i guess i'm gonna need to mod the fan...
