You could just buy a mobo that allows you to lower the CPU core voltage in the BIOS.... I was looking at them, and they are pricy, and im on a prety tight budget to get this system up and running again. i found a post a bout a month ago that showed which pins to block , but i cant remember what for...

Assuming that the FX 5500 is fairly low power, you should be fine. Im setting up a new fileserver/torrent system. and i would like to undervolt and under clock the cpu. i read somewhere that to lower the voltage supplied to the cpu, you have to put a bit of tape over one or more of the pads? i want to run it at 1.6ghz , how much voltage do i need for this sort of s...

CPU: E5200 @ 1.6ghz
HSF: OCZ Vanguisher
HDD: Hitachi DeskStar 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm & Segate Barracuda 80gb 7200rpm
GPU: GeForce FX 5500
RAM: GB DDR2 1066MHz
fans: 1*120mm and 1*80mm on 5v rail.
i can drop the 80gb hard drive if needed.
